(CNN) — Reality TV star and former model Anna Nicole Smith was pronounced dead Thursday after being taken to a Florida hospital after being found unconscious in her hotel room, a law enforcement source with knowledge of the case told CNN.

Smith, 39, collapsed at a south Florida hotel and was taken to a local hospital, according to news reports.

TMZ.com had reported that Smith collapsed at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, and was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood just after 2 p.m. ET.

According to reports, Smith was found unresponsive in her hotel room.

**I am really – really sad about this.  I’m a mom – and I don’t know how I would ever get over losing my son. My gut tells me that she killed herself.  She’s got a lot of controversy circulating around her right now.  With the death of her son, and then the DNA drama with her daughter. It can’t be a coincidence that she has died just days before a court ordered DNA test on her daughter.

Her poor daughter.  I mean seriously…this is a sad ending to an already tragic story.

UPDATE: TMZ is reporting that According to hotel officials, emergency responders performed CPR at the scene and a breathing apparatus was inserted in her throat. Anna was immediately transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood just after 2:00 PM EST.

WFOR-TV in Miami reports that Anna was found unresponsive in her hotel room. Local streets were closed off to rush Smith to the hospital, three miles away. Paramedics were seen pumping her chest as she was taken from the hotel.

Anna had been hospitalized for a week last November with pneumonia. Her son Daniel died of a drug overdose on September 10.

Larry Birkhead’s TV attacks on ex-lover Anna Nicole Smith became really serious last night when he accused the busty blonde of drinking while pregnant. Birkhead, who is fighting to prove he’s the biological father of Smith’s baby daughter Dannielynn, shocked America while appearing on a recent Larry King Live episode when he revealed his ex miscarried their first child together.

Smith has since denied she has ever been pregnant with the photographer’s child – a claim that has upset Birkhead, prompting him to respond with allegations his former partner once drank at a party and then bounced on a trampoline – while pregnant. He told last night’s “Entertainment Tonight” news show in America he was shocked when he found his pregnant girlfriend intoxicated. Birkhead recalled, “She says, ‘It’s not gonna hurt me, it’s not gonna hurt the baby,’ and then I looked down again, about an hour later and she’s had so much alcohol that she’s jumping up and down on a trampoline.

“(She’s) bouncing on her bottom and flying up in the air… Who does that when they’re pregnant? And then a few days later, they said she had a miscarriage and (her attorney) Howard (K. Stern) called me and said she fell off a ladder.”

TMZ obtained an AOL Instant Message exchange yesterday between Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead. Anna Nicole made it clear that she’s not going to submit to a DNA paternity test without a fight.

The deadline for the paternity test was today. We’ve learned Smith’s lawyers were in Los Angeles County Superior Court this morning trying to block the test. The judge has not issued a definitive ruling on Smith’s motion and so far the DNA test has not happened.

The Coroner in the Bahamas will conduct a formal inquest into the death of Anna Nicole Smith’s son. TMZ has learned one of the witnesses will testify that Howard K. Stern gave Anna’s son one of the drugs that killed him.

The inquest will be held on March 26. We’re told more than 20 witnesses will be called, including Smith and Stern. A source in the coroner’s office says one of the witnesses will testify that Stern allegedly gave Daniel methadone. And we’re told that the witness will testify that Stern flushed the remaining methadone down the toilet after Daniel died.

Daniel was found dead in the hospital room in which Anna Nicole had given birth. He had a combination of seven drugs in his system, including multiple anti-depressants and methadone.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the police have interviewed both Anna Nicole Smith and Howard K. Stern in connection with Daniel’s death.

The Coroner made a quick decision to hold the inquiry after getting the police file on the case last Friday.

A call to Stern was not immediately returned.

This past holiday season is proving to be the most challenging ever for ANNA NICOLE SMITH, as she continues to grieve from the tragic, unexpected death of her 20-year-old son DANIEL in September, just days after the birth of her little baby girl, DANNIELYNN HOPE.

Her body has still not bounced back from her pregnancy, and Anna says she gained about 70 pounds, going from approximately 145 to 220 pounds.

“I didn’t weigh myself as I was gaining my weight,” she tells ET. “I didn’t know I was getting so big until after I had [Dannielynn], and then I was like, ‘Oh my gosh.’”

So to help distract herself from the tragedy of Daniel, she decided to get back in shape. Anna credits TRIMSPA with helping to shed 60 of those pounds, and she’s even helping to test a new product.

“We’re coming out with a chocolate product, which I’m sampling now, so I’m being TRIMSPA’s guinea pig,” she says.

Anna’s also taking dance lessons to help drop the pounds — dirty dancing!

But despite her fun way of losing weight, Anna Nicole just can’t shake the harsh reality of her first Christmas without Daniel.

“Who am I going to buy presents for?” she asks. “There’s not going to be any Christmas for me. It’s going to be me, [HOWARD K. STERN] and our baby … and what am I going to do? Just going to hold her and think about Daniel, but he’s not there.”

She also states on TV that she thinks she’s pregnant again. “I think I might be pregnant again . . . Did that just come out?” she says while she’s gettting her hair blown out for the interview. She then says, OFF CAMERA, that she was just kidding.

Contrary to published reports, the investigation into the death of Anna Nicole’s son is far from over.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that the Attorney General of the Bahamas ordered police to re-interview Howard K. Stern regarding the painkiller methadone, and how it ended up in the late Daniel Wayne Smith’s system.

Daniel died September 10 in his mother’s hospital room, just days after she gave birth to a baby girl. An autopsy revealed that Daniel had a lethal combination of drugs in his system, including methadone and several antidepressants.

Sources in the Bahamas tell TMZ that Royal Bahamas Police interviewed Stern two weeks ago. It’s not the first time Stern has been interviewed. Law enforcement sources say Stern and Anna Nicole were both interviewed several times after Daniel’s death.

We’re told that law enforcement officials will make a major announcement about the investigation by December 15.
