Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their half-dozen children descended upon New York City on Oct. 2.

The family is in town for the premiere of Jolie’s new film, “Changeling,” and while there’s plenty of Oscar buzz surrounding Jolie’s performance, locals were buzzing about the traffic jam the family caused outside their midtown Manhattan hotel.

“I guess the size of their family and the amount of traffic they cause is directly proportional,” said one observer. “You’d think (Jolie) was part of the U.N. General Assembly.”

In previous years Jolie actually has been on hand for General Assembly; this year, she was in Berlin with the rest of her family. That doesn’t mean she’s stepped out of the spotlight.

One person who’s worked with Jolie in some of her international philanthropic work confirms that the actress is still involved, but unable to make appearances right now, which is just as well considering the blurred line between celebrity and politics at the moment.

“It’s a strange place for celebrities, philanthropy and politics right now,” says the source. “Angelina undoubtedly has more foreign-policy knowledge than Sarah Palin. She’s not looking to upstage anyone, though. On the other hand, by choosing an Alaskan ‘celebrity’ as his running mate and putting Paris (Hilton) and Britney (Spears) in his commercial, John McCain has done his best to obscure the line between politics and entertainment. No wonder people don’t know where to direct their attention.”

Attention, everyone: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are still together!

After rumors swirled on the Internet that the celeb couple had split, the pair took the unusual step of issuing a denial Thursday.

“The stories are absolutely not true,” Jolie’s spokesperson told Entertainment Tonight.

Brad and Angelina, who welcomed twins Knox and Vivienne in July, seem to be feeling the strain of parenting their ever-expanding brood, judging from recent quotes. Pitt has said that “sleep is something we long for,” while Angie admitted to Marie Claire magazine that “right now we’re not great about Mommy and Daddy time.”

While Pitt has been busy this month plugging his latest film, “Burn After Reading,” at the Toronto and Venice film festivals, Jolie is holding down the fort at the couple’s chateau in France.

“Angelina feels that Brad has it easy,” a source told Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper. “He had the kids without the pain of birth, and he can just jet off whenever he feels like it.”

The other Jolie-Pitt children include Maddox, 7; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2. Pitt has often spoken of his wish to have a “football team”-sized clan.

Angelina Jolie makes action movies so her six kids will be able to watch them with pride when they’re older.

Jolie, who has starred in blockbusters like Lara Croft: Tombraider, Mr and Mrs Smith and Wanted, insists the big-budget thrill rides are dedicated to her family.

She says, “I want to make them proud.”

Jolie even insists on doing all her own stunts in the films – so her kids learn they can do anything.

She adds, “If there’s a chance I will get killed, I will double-check my harness! I’m responsible these days because of my children. But, at the same time, I know that they’ll see one of my stunts when they’re older, so it gives me all the more reason to do cool things now.”

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are one powerful duo.

Jolie has been named “Most Powerful Actress” in the 2009 edition of the Guinness World Records. (She jointly held the title with Jennifer Aniston last year.)

Meanwhile, Brad Pitt has nabbed “Most Powerful Actor,” a title Tom Cruise has held for four consecutive years.

Britney Spears was named “Most Searched Person on the Internet” (Paris Hilton earned the honor last year).

Tween star Miley Cyrus was also represented this year.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may have newborn twins and four other children to care for, but that doesn’t stop them from looking after hundreds of thousands of children in Ethiopia, too.

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation made a $2 million donation to the Global Health Committee on Saturday to create a center for AIDS- and tuberculosis-affected children in Ethiopia. The center will be named after the couple’s daughter Zahara, 3, who was adopted from the African nation in 2005.

“It is our hope when Zahara is older, she will take responsibility of the clinic and continue its mission,” Pitt said in a statement announcing the donation.

Ethiopia has the seventh highest rate of tuberculosis in the world and an estimated 1.7 million people who are infected with HIV. The new clinic will be modeled after the Maddox Chivan Children’s Center in Cambodia, named after the eldest Jolie-Pitt child and established in 2006.

“Our goal is to transfer the success we have had in Cambodia to Ethiopia, where people are needlessly dying of tuberculosis, a curable disease, and HIV/AIDS, a treatable disease,” said Jolie in the statement.

Anne Goldfeld, cofounder of the Global Health Committee, said, “The Jolie-Pitt gift will allow us to deliver care and ease the great suffering caused by TB and AIDS with what we know works right now, while we continue scientific discovery to improve prevention and treatment of these diseases in the future.”

The past few months have been good to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. On July 12, soon after moving into a $60 million mansion in France, they welcomed twins Vivienne and Knox into their family. Things have been equally hectic for Hollywood’s other super couple, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Tom, 46, has gotten raves for his role in the box-office smash Tropic Thunder but has had to deal with the constantly changing release date of his World War II drama Valkyrie. Making their lives even busier, Katie’s in New York rehearsing for her Broadway debut in All My Sons (opening night is Oct. 16).

Although the two couples are living on different continents at the moment, that hasn’t stopped them from being competitive. Though reps for Tom and Katie deny a feud, “Brad’s and Angelina’s careers have taken off,” a Cruise family insider tells Life & Style. “It seems as though Tom’s always trying to compete with Brad, and that’s a difficult job.”

After all, Brad, 44, and Angie, 33, are seen as Hollywood’s golden couple. “All the negative press Tom gets over Scientology and the rumors about how his relationship with Katie was fake have left him with the sense that he’s not, you know, as beloved anymore,” says an insider close to the couple. And Brad has these causes — save the children, rebuild New Orleans, donate to charity — while Angelina’s practically St. Angelina these days. How do you compete with that?” In fact, the insider says, Tom has started to kid that he’s past his prime: “He’ll turn to Katie and joke, ‘It’s up to you now, kid!’ He’ll laugh, but it’s a worry, too, like he’s tapping into some insecurity.”

Angelina Jolie said she would relish the chance to act in a European film and may even be ready to take a French-speaking part in a few years, in an interview with a German magazine.

“No one has asked me yet,” she told the Monday issue of Focus news weekly when asked if she would like to work on the Continent.

“It would really interest me — there are more and more great films coming out of Europe and other cultures.”

The 33-year-old American, who has nestled into a sprawling estate in the south of France with her six children, said that she and her partner, American heartthrob Brad Pitt, had been learning French for two years.

“When I can really speak it, maybe I’ll try out for a French film in a few years,” she said.

Jolie told Focus that she rarely watches films on her own time.

“I find it difficult to sit still for two hours,” she said.

“I would rather read something or learn something or travel to experience something new.”

She said Pitt, 44, was the real movie buff of the family.

“When we watch together, I usually fall asleep or press pause so I can take care of the kids,” Jolie said.

Jolie and Pitt have three adoptive children and three biological children, including twins born in July.
