Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s twins may be only four months old, but they’re already characters of their own.

“They’re great. They’re still so little, but they do [have their own personalities],” Jolie told reporters at the DVD launch for Kung Fu Panda and the premiere of its companion adventure story, Secrets of the Furious Five in Hollywood on Sunday.

Knox and Vivienne are “starting to get very smiley,” their proud mom said. “They’re at that [stage] where their personality really starts to shine.”

As for the rest of the brood, they share a love of their mom’s work. “I think it’s a great film, and it’s brought a lot of joy to children – and to my children, absolutely,” Jolie told PEOPLE at the event. “My kids love it. They’re very very proud, they’ve got mom [Tigress] dolls.”

While Jolie – looking slim in a long-sleeved black Ralph Lauren dress and beige pumps with spiked heels – didn’t let on whether she’d be attending any of President-elect Barack Obama’s inaugural balls in January, she did say she was happy with the election last Tuesday.

“I was pleased to see how excited so many people were,” she told PEOPLE.

At the premiere, held at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, furry Panda characters wandered around and danced while costars Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman chatted with fans and press. Jolie and the rest of the cast were on hand also as DreamWorks’ Jeffrey Katzenberg presented a check for $1 million to the Conservation International in support of their efforts for the preservation of pandas in their natural habitat.

Jolie told PEOPLE shortly before the presentation, “We are so privileged in everything we get to do in this business, and the amount of money this film has made. To be able to share that and do some good always feels good.”

With six kids, Halloween is surely a big event for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s brood. So the Jolie-Pitt clan hit the streets in Malibu on Friday to do some trick or treating.

And Star can exclusively reveal four of the kids’ costumes! Maddox dressed as a marine with a helmet, Pax was a bat and Zahara chose a Jolly Green Giant outfit, says an eyewitness.

Shiloh, meanwhile, dressed as a sheriff. According to the eyewitness, she kept saying to Angie, “I want more candy, mom.” Angelina told her, “You’ll get more, there are more houses.” Shiloh whined, “I don’t want to walk,” so Brad picked her up.

Sounds like a typical family Halloween!

Angelina Jolie reveals she and Brad Pitt fell in love on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith – which Pitt filmed while still married to Jennifer Aniston.

“Not a lot of people get to see a movie where their parents fell in love,” Jolie, 33, says – referring to wanting her kids to see the flick – in the New York Times.

One sight she’s not ready for her six children to see? Racy internet pictures of herself!

Jolie says she worries, “[Maddox will] look up my name and see some kind of sexy pictures, or read a story about himself that isn’t true.

“There’s a lot we’re going to have to explain to them about how public their family is,” Jolie adds.

For now, the kids look at mom and dad as nerds, Jolie says.

“What’s going to be funny is when they think Mom and Dad are a little bit cool, because right now, we’re not cool Mom and Dad,” she says. “Even video games, you know, it’s: ‘Mom, you can’t play this. You don’t know how.’

“Oh, they all think I can’t do anything, that I’m just there to snuggle with. But the other day, Madd said, ‘Can you do a cartwheel?’ and I said, ‘Yeah I can.’ And he was like, ‘Wow, Mom,’” she says.

“And I thought ‘Oh, yeah. I can do some things. You wait. You’ll find out. I’m capable,” Jolie says.

The actress says she picks her movie roles based on her kids’ schedules.

She asks herself, “Who’s in school at that time? How can I be sure I don’t do too many long hours? Can the three youngest be on the set every day?

“As long as I can still be with my family, it’s fun. But I only want to do that, and I’m not looking for anything else,” she says.

For inspiration, Jolie looks to her own mother, who died in January 2007.

“My mom, she was a very, very soft woman. It was hard for her to yell, or even curse,” Jolie says. “But when it came to fighting for her kids, she found a strength she didn’t always know she had.

“And there’s a part of [Changeling character] Christine that I connected to her,” Jolie adds. “I kept pictures of my mom in little purses” that she totes in the movie.

The wheels are already turning in Angelina Jolie’s head, the Changeling star admitted in a lengthy Today show interview Thursday: She and Brad Pitt are considering another adoption.

“Soon?” asked host Matt Lauer when the actress and mother of six nodded in the affirmative.

While Jolie, whose twins Vivienne and Knox, are only 3 ½ months old, tried to avoid answering further, she did note, “You can’t even start the process until any new children are six months old, to understand how the new family has settled.”

As for how things settled after the most recent additions, Jolie, 33, said that the eldest, son Maddox, 6, was already “the professional big brother” to Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2. “He’s done it so many times.”

Then again, she said, “We have so many children that they’re not really stunned anymore when kids come home.

“They’re all at that great age that they are not threatened. They’re independent. They don’t need Mommy and Daddy all the time.”

She and Pitt generally see eye to eye when it comes to disciplining the children, she said, admitting, too, that the kids are so cute that it’s difficult to deny their requests to crawl into bed with their parents.

Jolie also said that the family is likely to continue their peripatetic lifestyle and not settle in one place for a while, at least not until the children are older.

“So far,” she says, “we’ve moved them a lot, and they like moving.”

She also likes being with Pitt, she said, when reminded of a quote some years ago in which she declared she was better off on her own. “I met the right person,” she told Lauer on Thursday. “I don’t like being without him.”

Like mother, like son!

Angelina Jolie says she is passing down her knife obsession to her seven-year-old son Maddox.

“My mom took me to buy my first daggers when I was 11 or 12,” Jolie says in the new issue of W magazine. “And I’ve already bought Maddox some.”

The actress has long been obsessed with knives.

In a 2003 interview with 20/20, she admitted that, as a teen, she once had a relationship that involved ritual self-mutilation.

“I got knives out and had a night where we attacked each other… it felt so primitive and it felt so honest… and then I had to deal with, you know, not telling my mother, hiding things, wearing gauze bandages to high school,” she said.

She said she no longer engages in such activities now that she’s a mother.
