‘X-Files’ Movie Casts Amanda Peet

00001f.jpg

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Chris Carter’s upcoming X-Files movie has cast Amanda Peet and rapper Xzibit as fellow FBI agents to David Duchovny’s Mulder and Gillian Anderson’s Scully. The second film adaptation of the supernatural TV series will not be a sequel to the 1998 original movie but a stand-alone story, though the plot is being kept under tight wraps. The Reporter also states that Scottish comedian Billy Connolly (Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events) has been given a role in the project as well. Peet is set to star opposite Mark Ruffalo and Ethan Hawke in Brian Goodman’s drama Real Men Cry for Yari Film Group. Xzibit recently was cast opposite Bruce Willis and Woody Harrelson in Oliver Stone’s Pinkville, that film has been put on hold because of the writers strike.

Mark Ruffalo, Ethan Hawk and Amanda Peet to star in gang movie.

ruffalohawkpeet.jpg

Mark Ruffalo, Ethan Hawke, and Amanda Peet will star together in the Brian Goodman-directed autobiographical crime drama Real Men Cry for Yari Film Group.

The story is about childhood friends Paulie (Hawke) and Brian (Ruffalo) who are forced to survive on the streets of South Boston through a life of petty thievery. They join a local gang of criminals, but Brian struggles to cope with his work while maintaining a relationship with Paulie, his wife (Peet), and his son.

The project marks Goodman’s feature directorial debut. He previously acted in a number of films, including Munich and The Last Castle. Ruffalo’s character is based on a friend of Goodman’s who is currently serving 100 years in prison for armed robbery. Goodman himself also served time in prison and has struggled with drug and alcohol abuse.

”I sat down with Mark and Ethan and told them, ‘You are two on a very short list of men who could’ve been in films 35 years ago, when men were men,”’ Goodman said. Ruffalo next appears in Blindness, Margaret, and The Brothers Bloom. Hawke appears in Tonight at Noon and Daybreakers. Peet next appears in Martian Child.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Mark Ruffalo?

Amanda Peet at “The Kingdom” premiere, 9/17

amanda_peet_0003_122_1091lo.jpg

Dear Amanda,

I love you.  I watched every single “Jack & Jill” episode.  I might have been the only one who liked it, but I did watch it.  I feel like I can say “I knew you when…”.  But for the love of everything holy, will you PLEASE hire a stylist.  You have a cute body – and yet you look like a bag lady.

Signed,

Jocelyn
