Ali Larter was once treated like an outcast on a film set after discovering how cruel Hollywood can be to an actress who gains weight.

The sexy star admits producers and directors stopped talking to her after she piled on the pounds while shooting a film on location.

She tells the new issue of Allure magazine, “The faxes went out from the producers and the director to my agents to my manager to call me and ask me to lose weight. I just remember sitting in my trailer hysterically crying from the embarrassment I felt about myself, my body - and that no one could talk to me directly.”

Madonna hosted the star-studded fundraiser for Malawi orphans, last night.

The legendary singer, who has a two-year-old adopted son David from the African country, threw the New York bash for her Raising Malawi Foundation, United Nations children’s organization UNICEF and to celebrate the opening of a new Gucci store.

Madonna, who dismissed rumors the event was raising money for Kabbalah, said: “I am grateful that Gucci has underwritten this event, that’s all that matters to me - their generosity. There’s always controversy surrounding anything that involves change.

“I want to put Raising Malawi on the map. I want credibility as a philanthropic organization. I want to inspire people. I don’t want them to just write me a check - I want them to give me a piece of their heart.”

Heroes star Ali Larter and her longtime boyfriend, actor Hayes MacArthur, got engaged over the weekend, People confirms.

“It’s true,” says a rep for the actress. “They’re thrilled.”

This will be the first marriage for both. No wedding date has been set.

Larter, 31, has made it clear she has been more than ready for a proposal from MacArthur, who recently appeared in The Game Plan.

“I told my boyfriend after three weeks that I wanted to marry him and that we could do it tomorrow,” Larter recently said. “I look forward to that time when I’m home with babies.”

And in August, Larter she was madly in love, adding that MacArthur has “brought light to my life. I feel lucky every morning when I wake up and see him.”
