After being back together for a year after their last break up, Cameron Diaz and Alex Rodriguez are again splitting up. “They broke up recently,” a source close to Rodriguez confirms to Us Weekly.

The duo’s low-profile love was marked by beach getaways and intense workouts together. So what got in the way? Their work ethic!

“She’s very busy with her career,” the source says of Diaz. “And he’s had injuries and wants to focus on his game. They’re dedicated professionals.”

Accordingly, don’t expect any drama in the wake of their split. “They’re still very friendly and like each other,” the source says.

Things are heating up in baseball seeing as many major leaguers are finding themselves in hot water surrounding a controversial, and illegal, poker game that Star magazine reports had hookers, cocaine, and violence. MLB commissioner Bud Selig now says that he is ordering New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez to appear before investigators because he is accused of taking part in the aforementioned poker match.

“We take this very seriously and have been investigating this matter since the initial allegation,” an MLB spokesperson told Star, in an exclusive statement.

“As part of the investigation, the Commissioner’s Office will interview Mr. Rodriguez.”

Star magazine reported that this Texas Hold ‘Em ring included many Hollywood elite, and that Alex’s denial of ever taking part inthe game has been rejected.

The insiders told Star exclusively that A-Rod gambled on at least two occasions, in games organized by stunning brunette Molly Bloom, who coordinated the sophisticated A-List poker operation that included Tobey Maguire, Ben Affleck, Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon.

None of the stars played in the same game as A-Rod, Star has learned.

Alex is looking at an undisclosed suspension if he is found at fault.

“We’re talking to people involved in the investigation and we’re taking this very seriously.”

“Because he had been warned about this before, I would say a possible suspension would be very much in play.”

“Bud’s totally fed up with him,” a baseball insider reportedly told ESPNNewYork.com. “It’s like there’s something new with him every day and it’s impossible to keep up with it.”

Meanwhile, Alex has been spotted with girlfriend and actress Cameron Diaz. As far as the Yankees are concerned, they claim to not know anything about the allegations.

This isn’t the first run in with Alex and gambling. Back in 2006 he found himself in hot water with Bud Selig and the league, and was warned by Bud to stay out of New York’s illegal poker dens, or else.

My favorite part of the Super Bowl were those few seconds between commercials where the cameras pan to the box where all the celebs sit. I quickly try to pick out who’s sitting where, and who’s sitting by who. During one of these breaks, we see Cameron Diaz feeding boyfriend Alex Rodriguez popcorn.

Commentator Joe Buck pointed out, “I’m sure Alex Rodriguez is happy that we put the cameras on him at that exact moment.”
