Alec Baldwin: I intend to have plastic surgery

Alec Baldwin

Actor Alec Baldwin is vain when it comes to body image. And he doesn’t care who knows it.

“I have a great ass, if I may say so,” the It’s Complicated actor, 51, tells Entertainment Weekly in its annual holiday movie preview issue, out Friday. “That’s a part of my body that needs no surgical enhancement or rearranging.”

Still, Baldwin, who turned to an “ass double” when he had to to show off his derriere in the new comedy, out Christmas Day, says he wouldn’t rule out getting cosmetic enhancements.

“I’m not saying I wouldn’t do something! I intend to do something,” he says. “I probably will. Let’s put it this way: I wouldn’t rule it out because… You don’t think I wake up every day and wish I looked like this and this and this? But I can’t let that bother me.”

His It’s Complicated costar, Meryl Streep, isn’t as convinced about getting work done.

“Well, if you’ve ever even contemplated that stuff and looked at what can go wrong in any of those magazines, it’s terrifying!” the actress, whose character freaks out in a plastic surgeon’s office after a consultation, tells EW.

Plus, she says that as a celebrity, “every part of your life is chronicled,’ so “if something mysteriously looks better,” everyone will notice.

Baldwin — who split from Kim Basinger, his wife of eight years, in 2001 — also opens up to the magazine about if he’ll ever wed again.

“I don’t mean to be glib, but the title really is perfect,” Baldwin says of the flick where he and Streep play ex-spouses who rekindle their romance at their son’s college graduation. “It is complicated. I had a pretty tough divorce myself, so sometimes I sit there and I go, ‘Well, should I have worked it out? Maybe I should have tried harder.’”

Baldwin says the film’s lessons are also what he tries to impart to their daughter, Ireland, 14.

“It’s also what you teach your children about their love lives,” he says. “That’s a big thing for me, to teach my daughter: No risk, no reward. I want her to realize that it’s a roll of the dice. Not everybody gets so lucky, where they have a family and a marriage forever and ever.”

Alec Baldwin Was Suicidal over Angry Voicemail to Daughter

3z0on01.jpg

It was the private voicemail message not meant to be shared and yet ended up being heard by nearly everyone – Alec Baldwin’s angry April 2007 tirade against his daughter, Ireland, accusing the then-11-year-old of being a “rude little pig” who needed to have her “ass straightened out” after she had “humiliated me for the last time.”

Only now, as the Emmy-winning 30 Rock star admits in a candid interview with Playboy for its July/August issue (on newsstands and online Friday), after the phone message was exposed, he contemplated killing himself.

At the time of the voicemail, Baldwin and his ex-wife, Kim Basinger, were in the sixth year of their bitter custody battle over the child. In the wake of public outrage about the contents of the message, Baldwin set about repairing his public image, apologizing during an appearance on The View and writing an advice book for divorced fathers, A Promise to Ourselves. But reaching those points proved an arduous climb.

Talked Out of It
Describing his thoughts of killing himself as “very serious,” Baldwin, 51, says, “I spoke to a lot of professionals, who helped me … If I committed suicide, [Kim Basinger's side] would have considered that a victory. Destroying me was their avowed goal.”

His self-destructive state of mind was such, recalls Baldwin, that he also offered to quit 30 Rock and actually went ahead and – briefly – dropped his agent, who also represented Basinger.

As for why Baldwin chose The View as his platform to unburden himself, he says, “Whoopi Goldberg is a friend. I called her and said, ‘Do you think I can get a fair shake?’ Because when you talk about family law and parental alienation, there is this unfortunate gender-based dynamic. Could I walk into a show with a strong female audience? Would they understand my point of view? I trusted Whoopi and Barbara Walters. Whoopi is an impeccably decent person, and I am grateful she gave me a forum.” (more…)

Alec Baldwin details suicidal thoughts in his new book

Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin wanted to jump out of the window of his New York apartment after an answer machine message in which he called his daughter a “thoughtless little pig” was leaked on the internet.

In his autobiography A Promise To Ourselves: Fatherhood, Divorce and Family Law, Baldwin describes how he plunged into a suicidal depression when the message to 11-year-old Ireland was revealed to the world.

And he blasts bosses of website TMZ.com for publishing the tape last year, insisting the despair it caused almost led to him taking his own life.

He explains, “She (Ireland) was off for spring break with her mother and her phone was turned off for 10 consecutive days… This had gone on for years now and… when the beep came, I snapped. (TMZ boss Harvey Levin) seemed to be that breed of tabloid creature that realized an almost sexual level of pleasure from ruining other people’s lives. He has created TMZ as the updated receptacle of… trash. He leads a cadre of self-satisfied twentysomethings who jump like rats from public relations sinking ship to sinking ship.”

Baldwin continues to describe the spiraling depression that ensued before he sought treatment, adding: “Driving up the Taconic Parkway, heading to an inn in the Berkshire Mountains, I began to think about what little town I would repair to in order to commit suicide. What semi-remote Massachusetts state park could I hike deep into and overdose there? When I returned to New York, the thought of jumping out the window of my apartment was with me every night for weeks.”

Baldwin’s book hits shelves at the end of the month.

Alec Baldwin blasts road rage claim

Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin has hit back at reports he caused a car crash in a road rage incident at the weekend.

The 30 Rock star reportedly clashed with a limo driver on Sunday night as he was leaving the U.S. Open tennis tournament in Queens, New York.

A source tells the New York Post, “He just drove his car into the Town Car in his impatience to exit the parking lot.”

But a spokesperson for Baldwin says the actor flatly denies the allegation, insisting: “Alec was cut off and thought their cars hit each other, but they actually didn’t. There was no contact and no damage.”

Earl creator: Alec Baldwin is an idiot

Alec Baldwin

We’ve been following this Alec Baldwin versus My Name Is Earl feud with some interest, but now the mud is being flung so quickly we can barely keep up—so bear with us as we recap Hollywood’s most fascinating catfight:

The 30 Rock star started it all in a New Yorker profile by saying NBC head honchos pay more attention to Earl than to his series.

My Name Is Earl’s creator, Greg Garcia, responded via Defamer by calling Alec a psychotic narcissist.

Alec shot back on the Huffington Post site: “For Earl’s creator, Greg Garcia, who referred to me as a ‘psychotic,’ I have only one question. Why are you Scientologists always rendering these medical opinions you aren’t qualified to give?”

Now Garcia’s taking no prisoners—firing back at Baldwin, bald people and Yes, Dear. We are not making this up:

“Alec, I can’t tell you how happy I am to once again point out that you are an idiot. I’m unable to answer your question about Scientologists because, although I respect anyone’s right to their own beliefs, I am not currently nor have I ever been a Scientologist. Maybe you should have done some research that extended past the comments section of Defamer before you crafted your insult.

“If you choose to attack me again may I suggest something witty about me creating the show Yes, Dear or just simply a joke about the fact that I’m bald. Both true.”

Forget about Jennie Garth versus Shannen Doherty or Miley Cyrus versus Selena Gomez. Two grown men publicly trading barbs is just brilliant. All we can hope for now is that Scientologists, bald people and the stars of Yes, Dear decide to join in on the fray and blast both men away.

Inside Alec Baldwin’s Autobiography

wenn1854516.jpg

The world was shocked when an angry voice mail Alec Baldwin left his daughter, Ireland, was leaked in April 2007. On it, the 30 Rock star called the then 11-year-old a “thoughtless little pig,” and raged that she had “insulted me for the last time.” The 50-year-old went on to threaten to “straighten [her] ass out.” Now, In Touch has learned that the actor was so distraught in the aftermath of his public humiliation that he contemplated suicide.

“He didn’t think that life was worth living once the Los Angeles County Superior Court commissioner suspended his visitation rights,” says an insider who has read Alec’s upcoming autobiography, A Promise to Ourselves: A Journey Through Fatherhood and Divorce, which will be released by St. Martin’s Press on September 23. “In the book, he writes about how he was serious about suicide. He definitely put a lot of thought into the different ways he could accomplish it.”

Luckily, the actor sought treatment for his depression before he acted on his impulses. “Alec writes in the book that a doctor told him he’d be no good to anyone — especially Ireland — if he destroyed himself,” says the insider.

Even though the actor, who divorced Kim in 2002, writes that he patched up his relationship with his daughter, the insider reveals, “It’s sad. In the book, Alec admits he felt estranged from his daughter before she was even born.”

“The book is his own personal experience of a father going through a divorce judicial system and all the injustices,” adds another insider.
