Adam Lambert as you’ve never seen him before… straight.

On kissing women:

“I am gay, but I like kissing women sometimes. Women are pretty. It doesn’t mean I’m necessarily sleeping with them.”

On entertaining:

“It’s all fantasy – that’s what entertainment is. I’m here to entertain you, and if my sexuality is apparent and you respond to it, and you’re attracted to it, then great, I’m doing my job.”

His American Idol past:

“There’s a feeling of entitlement [with the fans] because they voted to get us where we are. But you know what? I am responsible for what I created on the show – you voted for what I created, and thank you, but I created it, you didn’t.”

Indie label defends release of Adam Lambert’s pre-Idol recordings

Adam Lambert

Despite complaints from Adam Lambert, an independent music label is defending its decision to release music from the singer’s pre-American Idol days.

Before auditioning for the hit Fox show, Lambert spent three years recording songs for Los Angeles-based Wilshire Records. Lambert was angry when he learned that the label teamed up with Hi Fi Recordings to release an 11-track album, On With the Show, featuring his early works later this summer.

“The work I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on,” Idol producer 19 Entertainment said in a statement this week on behalf of Lambert.

But a Hi Fi Recordings rep tells Usmagazine.com exclusively:

“Adam is now enjoying the success that he and Wilshire Records hoped for. However, he is now represented by high-profile companies who released a statement in Adam’s name saying the songs on On With the Show were recorded four years ago and Adam only contributed vocals. This is simply not true.

“The songs were recorded in a professional recording studio with top notch musicians and producers since the music was always meant to be released. Of the 11 songs that will appear on the album, On With the Show, Adam co-wrote eight with Monte Pittman (Madonna’s guitar player).

“As co-writer and performer, Adam will receive significant royalties just as any superstar artist would. He has the chance, finally, to make a fortune for his work — definitely more with this album than through a major label deal.

“This pre-Idol work is a fantastic representation of who Adam is and what inspired him during the months before he became famous. We intend to see that Adam will still benefit from the success of ‘Want’ (on iTunes now), and from the sale of On With the Show, even though he is now part of a major franchise that only wants fans to hear the music Adam records for them,” the statement concluded.

Adam Lambert Goes Gaga for Debut Album

adam-lambert.jpg

Adam Lambert may have just revealed all personally, but he’s apparently putting on a poker face for his professional debut.

Living up to his American Idol reputation, and nickname, Glambert has sought out the musical services of hit-making producer RedOne, the man behind Lady Gaga’s two biggest hits and the person frequently credited—aside from the teacup-loving singer herself—with the recent resurgence of glam rock.

Sources tell E! News that Lambert spent the weekend holed up with the “Poker Face” and “Just Dance” producer in a Los Angeles recording studio.

While a label source said Lambert’s debut will be heavy on “Queen-inspired” sounds, the guylined rocker has teamed with the Swedish-Moroccan producer (who has also produced for Akon, Enrique Iglesias and Michael Jackson, among others) to look “for a new sound that goes beyond what he did on Idol.”

Lambert’s debut album is due out this fall on RCA Recordings.

Adam Lambert opens up to Rolling Stone about being gay.

2v1m5qw.jpg

Adam Lambert is gay.

The American Idol Season 8 runner-up ends any speculation in the next issue of Rolling Stone, out Friday. “I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear I’m gay.” He explains: “I’ve been living in Los Angeles for eight years as a gay man. I’ve been at clubs drunk making out with somebody in the corner.”

The Idol favorite, who finished in second place after Kris Allen, says, “Right after the finale, I almost started talking about it to the reporters, but I thought, ‘I’m going to wait for Rolling Stone, that will be cooler.’ ” He adds, ” I’m proud of my sexuality.”

Still, Lambert, 27, says he doesn’t mind attention from the opposite sex. “I loved it this season when the girls went crazy for me,” he says. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s all hot.”

But exactly what is his type? When Idol producers put him in a room to share with Allen, Lambert says his first thought was, “They put me with the cute guy. Distracting! He’s the one guy I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type — except that he has a wife. I mean he’s open-minded and liberal, but he’s definitely 100% straight.”

As for the scandal over photos of Lambert in drag that surfaced on the Internet in March, he says, he forgot to remove photos from his profile on a social network for the Burning Man festival in Nevada. “Wasn’t ready for that,” he tells RS of the photos of him in costume making out with his ex. He was worried that people would think the drag ensemble was typical of him. “I’ve only dressed in drag three or four times. … I don’t tuck and wear breasts, that’s not me.”

Though Lambert supports the gay-rights movement, he doesn’t want to be its poster boy. “I’m trying to be a singer, not a civil rights leader.”

Stereotypes about gays do annoy Lambert. “Clay Aiken’s gay, and I’m gay, and we couldn’t be more different. The only thing that is the same about everyone in the gay community is that we’re gay. … Why can’t we talk about a human community?”

In addition to his homosexuality, Lambert shares other personal details with RS.

At 21, he was in a European tour of Hair for six months. That was when he dyed his hair black. In Germany, he started smoking pot and tried Ecstasy. But he does have limits. Among his dislikes: cocaine.

“That drug is such a reflection of the lack of self-esteem and control people have over themselves and their lives,” he says.

Adam Lambert on His Sexuality: ‘Keep Speculating’

adamlambert2.jpg

Adam Lambert says role models come in a variety of different forms – even in eye makeup, fingernail polish and tight pants.

“It’s a really, really cool thing,” the American Idol runner-up says, “to be able to show people that you can be yourself, and you should be proud of yourself, and you should own who you are and what you’re about, and never make apologies for it.”

So to those who speculate about his sexuality, he has a message. “Calm down,” he says, and “keep speculating.”

Lambert, 27, who finished second to Kris Allen in the show that ended May 20, says his comfort with himself can serve as an example. “It feels really amazing to be able to try and pass that on to kids and young adults who don’t have a role model like that,” he says. “It feels great because I never had a role model like that.”

“Conforming is not cool,” he adds. “Embracing who you are and what makes you different is actually what’s really cool … The kids that are different and out there and expressive and are bold with those choices, those are the people that grow up to be people we all want to hang out with, that become celebrities or become really successful in what they do because they believe in who they are.”

As for all the talk about his personal life, Lambert says just one word when asked if he’ll address his sexuality directly, say in an upcoming issue of Rolling Stone: “Maybe.”

Who are you rooting for?

24xpd7s1.jpg

Just curious where you all stand.  I watched last night’s American Idol, and I totally think Kris Allen should win. I love him! I’m not saying that Adam Lambert isn’t talented – he totally is…..but Kris Allen is remarkable! His songs actually move me, make me feel something! I think Kris should win, but hey – that’s me.  What do you think?

PS: I don’t think that Adam Lambert needs American Idol. He will go on and have an amazing career, either way!
