Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart In “Rabbit Hole” – First Images

“Rabbit Hole,” starring Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart, is an adaptation of David Lindsay-Abaire’s Pulitzer prize-winning drama about a fraying family.

The story traces the life of a happily married couple that is disrupted by an unexpected tragedy and the emotional journey they must undertake to regain happiness.

Kidman plays a suburban mother dealing with the loss of a child. Eckhart will play Kidman’s husband, who is trying to hold on to the memory of his dead son while dealing with his emotionally removed wife.

With a budget of less than $10 million, a brisk 28-day shoot “Rabbit Hole” is more like an indie than a Hollywood production.

“This is a passion project for Nicole,” Eckhart said, “The reason why I’m in the movie is Nicole. If she wants to work with somebody, then that’s what happens.”

“When I first responded to it, it was because I read it, and it was about grief, which fascinates me,” Kidman said. “Loss and love seem to be themes that run through my work.”

This film is about “a marriage and the way that people fuse through pain, that you can either be pulled apart or you can come together. In the same way that ‘Birth,’ a film that I did, was about loss of the loved one who’s your partner in life, this is the most profound loss, and it’s the worst place to tread. And so my nature tends to be to explore something that I’m terrified of.” [source: NYTimes.com]

The movie is directed by John Cameron Mitchell from the script which Lindsay-Abaire adapted from his own stage play. Sam Raimi was actually attached to direct, but dropped out to do “Spider-Man 4.”

“Rabbit Hole” also stars Dianne Wiest, Tammy Blanchard, Sandra Oh, Giancarlo Esposito and Jon Tenney.

See Jennifer Aniston Fall in Love With Aaron Eckhart

In Jennifer Aniston’s upcoming romantic drama Love Happens (out Sept. 18), she plays a florist who falls for a motivational speaker (Aaron Eckhart). Watch the trailer (above) and tell Us below if you think the two have chemistry.

Aniston recently joked that the movies she films have “a strange parallel” with her personal life, citing Rumor Has It and Derailed as examples.

“If anyone has a movie called Everlasting Love With an Adult Stable Man, that would be great!” she joked at the the Women In Film 2009 Crystal + Lucy Awards on June 12. “I’m at table six, and my agents are at table 12.”

Sex scenes make Aaron Eckhart squirm

Aaron Eckhart

Aaron Eckhart felt awkward during his sex scenes in upcoming film Towelhead - because his co-star Summer Bishil found them funny.

The Dark Knight star plays a bigoted reserve soldier in the controversial movie, which tells the story of an Arab-American girl’s encounter with racism after her family moves to a Texas town.

She conducts an affair with her neighbor, played by Eckhart - but he hated filming their intense sex scenes because Bishil joked her way through them.

He tells MTV.com, “Those were difficult times for me. The way I did it was to really trust (director) Alan (Ball). It was in the words. I really trusted Summer, and I tried to get her to trust me, to build a relationship when we were doing physical scenes. We’d really rehearse them mechanically, and I’d say, “OK, I’m going to put my hand here, I’m going to do this”. She was so good-humoured about the whole thing and well-adjusted - I think I found it more difficult.”

Aaron Eckhart spills the Dark secret of Two-Face’s fate

Aaron Eckhart

Aaron Eckhart has had a good summer. He can take credit for some of The Dark Knight’s awesomeness, with his Harvey Dent/Two-Face baddie getting almost as freaky as Heath Ledger’s Joker. But $500 million later, we have to ask him: Two-Face could survive that deadly fall at the construction site, right?

“No,” Eckhart told E! News at the junket for Towelhead yesterday. “He is dead as a doornail. He ain’t comin’ back, baby. No.”

The fans want him back, and the actor wants to come back, but ultimately director Christopher Nolan is the bad parent.

“I asked Chris that question. He goes, ‘You’re dead.’ Before I could even get the question out of my mouth, ‘Hey Chris, am I…’ ‘You’re dead.’ ”

But death has never been a problem for comic book characters! “I’m not coming back,” he said. “Unfortunately, Heath was supposed to go along.”

Eckhart knows, too, that there are plenty of Batvillains waiting for spots in the sequels. He’s even jealous about one rumor. “I heard Angelina Jolie was going to be Catwoman,” he said. “I thought that was a great idea. I’d like to be in that one.”

Oh, but sorry. Didn’t you hear? You’re dead.
