Leslie Carter, who is the sister of Nick Carter (Backstreet Boys) and singer Aaron Carter, died yesterday in New York.

“Our family is grieving right now and it’s a private matter,” a spokesperson for the family told Access Hollywood. “We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter. We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time.”

Following in the footsteps of her famous siblings, Leslie was an aspiring singer and her single “Like Wow!” was even included on the soundtrack of the movie “Shrek” in 2011. Nick’s younger sister also appeared on the family’s 2006 reality show, “House of Carters.”

Leslie leaves behind her four siblings as well as a husband, Mike, and nearly one-year-old daughter, Alyssa Jane.

Singer Aaron Carter has entered a rehab center to treat addiction issues, a source tells E! exclusively.

The 23-year-old former Dancing With the Stars contestant checked into a private Southern California facility earlier this month, says the source

The source reveals that Carter’s choice to go to rehab was his move to “finally get help” and not a court-mandated decision. “He was struggling recently and needed this,” adds a source.

Once a teen star (and reported romantically linked to both Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff), Carter has most recently been in Orlando working on his new album. But friends and family are said to have urged that he stop working and fly to LA to seek treatment.

In 2006, Carter starred in the E! reality show House of Carters with his family, including his older brother, Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys. Later that year, Aaron appeared on Celebrity Rehab 2 and was treated for substance abuse.

Aaron Carter, former child singer, is taking to Twitter to show that he’s all grown up.

The 22-year-old posted a topless picture of himself revealing his six pack and bulging veins. “I’ve been at Johnny Wright’s compound working on my mind, music, and body for a new album release!” he wrote last week.

Aaron Carter (whose brother is Backstreet Boy’s Nick Carter) recently starred on Dancing With the Stars.

He’s looking to make a comeback, and getting in shape is part of his master plan. “Early wake up call for me again. today!!,” he tweeted Oct. 5. “Here we go again! Three mile run. 1000 sit ups 1000 push ups! All new records at my show in NY!”

He said he’s “starting vocal lessons again all over again, running and singing! it’s the best way to do a REAL-live show-LIVE!”

He revealed last week that he’s “in the process of developing a new style of dance,” which, he says, “will be unforgettable.”

It’s going to be a crowded ballroom for Dancing with the Stars’ ninth season. Sixteen celebrities — including Donny Osmond, Melissa Joan Hart and Aaron Carter — have signed on to do the cha cha, the paso doble on the ABC show, which premieres Monday, Sept. 21.

“When we increase the cast we find it makes the competition more interesting,” DWTS executive producer Conrad Green tells People. “It was about trying to make it as big as possible and try to get that sense of fun and excitement and real character come through on the show.”

The sweet 16 lineup, which was announced live on Good Morning America Monday, also includes familiar faces like former Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin, reality star Kelly Osbourne and supermodel-turned-billionaire businesswoman Kathy Ireland. Lesser-known celebrities, like snowboarder Louie Vito, Iron Chef’s Mark Dacascos and model Joanna Krupa join the cast as well. But by far the most eyebrow-raising contestant is former House of Representatives Majority Leader Tom DeLay.

“He’s a fairly divisive figure in as much as Democrats will probably be hoping he fails and Republicans will probably be melting down the phones to keep him in,” Green admits. “I love that kind of level of engagement.”

Adds Green: “Tom loves dancing. He dances with his wife. He watches Dancing with the Stars religiously. For him it was a no brainer, but for us it was an absolute shock.”

Professional dancer/celebrity pairings will be announced on August 24, Green says, “because of geography, people will be meeting their partners for the first time at various times throughout the week.”

Singer Aaron Carter is allegedly the latest star planning to check into the next edition of VH1′s “Celebrity Rehab.”

He is said to be joining former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss and rocker Sebastian Bach, the former front-man for the ’80s heavy metal band, Skid Row.

Carter was busted last February during a traffic stop in Texas when cops found two ounces of pot in the car he was driving.

Former NBAer Dennis Rodman has also been approached about appearing on the show, but has yet to commit, according to production sources.

VH1 officials declined to confirm casting on the show, which is slated to begin filming in early June.

On the show, celebrities check into a Pasadena drug and alcohol rehab center where Dr. Drew Pinsky (“Loveline”) tries to help them tame their substance abuse problems.

Last season offered a warts-and-all look at several troubled stars, including Brigitte Nielsen, Daniel Baldwin and even filmed “Taxi” star Jeff Conaway suffering through detox.

Aaron Carter’s father has been left “floored” by his son’s stupidity after he was arrested for marijuana possession in Texas. The singer was pulled over by cops after he was spotted speeding in Kimble County, Thursday.

Police reportedly found two ounces of marijuana during a search of his Cadillac Escalade. Carter’s father, Bob, is hopping mad.

He tells People magazine, “I’m just totally floored by this. Other people suspected he had a problem, but I denied it and didn’t believe it. Now I feel hurt and betrayed, because I see that everything wasn’t what I thought it was.”

A statement from Aaron Carter’s management reads, “On his way to Florida bringing his two dogs to live on a large ranch, Aaron Carter was detained today in Texas by a trooper for exceeding the speed limit by 5 mph. A search revealed a small amount of marijuana, a misdemeanor in this state. He is posting bail and will return to Los Angeles. He sincerely regrets any embarrassment this caused to his family, friends and fans.”

The singer’s father hopes the arrest serves as a wake-up call to his son: “Aaron has always thought he was invincible and sometimes it takes a knock in the head to get people back on track. I hope that’s what happens here.”

Pop singer Aaron Carter was arrested for investigation of marijuana possession Thursday after he was pulled over for speeding in Texas, authorities said.

Carter, 20, the younger brother of Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys, was in jail in Junction, Texas, awaiting a Friday morning appearance before a magistrate, Kimble County Sheriff Mike Chapman tells PEOPLE.

Carter’s Cadillac Escalade was pulled over for speeding in Junction at about noon on Thursday, said Chapman.

Officers found marijuana in the car, the sheriff said. There was nobody else in the car.
