Almost one year ago exactly, Taylor got ten nominations mostly for “Bad Blood,” and the woman was inserting herself into a conversation Nicki Minaj was having about MTV’s devaluation of black artists. Then, she called Minaj personally to apologize and apologized publicly for her misunderstanding of the situation. In fact, things were so opposite of bad blood the two did a duet at the beginning of the 2015 VMAs. It was fun!

This year, Taylors feuding wasn’t so lucky, and maybe MTV took notice? Because 0 nominations is a lot less nominations than ten. Granted, her videos “Wildest Dreams” and “Out of the Woods” pretty much sucked, and “New Romantics” is just tour footage.

Taylor Swift received zero nominations, a surprising turn of events for the 26-year-old singer, who led the pack of honorees at last year’s ceremony with 10 nominations for “Bad Blood.” In the past year, the six-time VMA winner has released three music videos — “Wildest Dreams,” “Out of the Woods” and “New Romantics” — from her latest album, 1989.

Although the cinematic “Wildest Dreams” visual debuted during the 2015 VMA preshow, the network neglected to recognize it nearly a year later. “Out of the Woods” also landed a high-profile premiere on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in December 2015, but it was overlooked, too.

Taylor’s also been touring a lot this year, so she’s had less time to focus on making music videos. That being said, Kanye‘s got a couple of nominations in the mix, including “Famous.”
