Come ON, Jennifer Lopez.
Monday morning, Jennifer Lopez and Lin-Manuel Miranda performed their new single on the Today Show, called “Love Makes the World Go Round.” It’s a tribute to the victims of the Pulse Nightclub attack, and the proceeds from the single go to the Hispanic Federation’s Proyecto Somos Orlando initiative. Good right? Yeah, good. But bad because for however good it was to sing/perform the song…it was all negated by bad social media management (and stupidity).
Jennifer Lopez tweeted a photo of herself and Lin-Manuel at the Today Show, but decided to use the hashtag #AllLivesMatter, which gave a LOT of people a case of the ANGERS. Why? First of all, becaue you say #BlackLivesMatter doesn’t mean other lives don’t, it’s a rally and call to arms because the black community think their lives don’t matter. It’s like when you say “Save The Rainforest,” it doesn’t mean all other forests can be destroyed, it’s a conversation and awareness about a SPECIFIC issue. So I’m glad JLo got called out in this, because it’s insensitive to both the Pulse Nightclub tragedy and the gun control/Black lives sentiment.
Do you think this was way uncool or NBD? Weigh in BELOW!
