Sometimes I forget that Carmen Electra and Prince were even a THING.
In an emotional interview with LaPalme Magazine, Carmen remembers her brief romance- which she calls a “mentorship,” or whatev- with the late singer. It’s about the second time Carmen spoke out about the legend, following his tragic death late last month:
“That first time I met Prince, he was very quiet. I was very shy, so there was this awkward moment of us just kind of standing in front of each other. He broke the ice by asking me if I wanted to play pool, and I was so horrible that he just kept laughing at me.”
Aw, he sounds so sweet.
In another typical Prince move, he decided to change the actress’s birth name from Tara Leigh Patrick to Carmen just because he felt like it suited her better. It was the Minnesotan’s first step in helping Electra transform from a nobody to a somebody. She continued:
“I reminded him that my name was Tara. He told me, ‘You look like a Carmen, so to me, you’re Carmen. He was so mysterious, but one of the wittiest people I’ve ever met. He was simply one of a kind.”
“As an artist and as a person, Prince was so extraordinarily generous. It was very generous for him to give me a chance to start a music career, and I’ll always be grateful that he believed in me and took a chance on me. We’re all devastated, and it didn’t seem like it was his right time to go.”
Well put, Carmen. I know I’m still mourning Prince, and I bet most of the public is, too. It’s so nice to hear words of remembrance.
