Diane Kruger Hated Working With Peter O’Toole

Diane Kruger at The UNKNOWN Premiere in Westwood

RIP, Peter O’Toole

Remember the movie Troy? Yeah, me either, barely. I had to look it up. Brad Pitt starred as Achilles, Orlando Bloom was Paris, Diane Kruger was Helen of Troy and the late Peter O’Toole was Priam. It was overblown and generally forgettable. Anyhow, not only did it seem lame and boring to watch, but according to Diane, it wasn’t fun to make, either. Why? Because O’Toole, who was 71 years old around the time that they were filming Troy, was drunk and egocentric and tired and old and lame:

“You know who wasn’t very pleasant, was Peter O’Toole…It kind of sucked. He’s dead, so I can say that. But he wasn’t the most pleasant person. He was just a drunk, and Peter O’Toole. You know, he had a two-day part, and I played Helen of Troy and he was Peter O’Toole, and he just wanted to make sure that everybody knew that he was Peter O’Toole. And he could barely make it up the stairs. We were on a set that was – you know, you have to climb, like, I don’t know, 100 steps to go up. He was just – first of all, everybody thought he was gonna die right there and then. Because it was, you know, 120 degrees, and he had to walk up 100 stairs. And he was very old, and very drunk.”

Honestly, good on you, Kruger. You were a lady until he passed, and only when asked did you throw a little honest shade. O’Toole was a notorious drunk and the movie already probably didn’t take it seriously and phoned the thing in. I say, hey, no big.

What do YOU Think of Kruger calling out the late Peter O’Toole?

Award winning, beloved, talented, intelligent Drunk, grumpy and old star Peter O’Toole is better than anything she ever did or will do in her career.. Her as Helen of Troy must have given him a wry giggle..
