Happy 90th birthday, Queen Elizabeth!

To mark the occasion, the British Monarchy’s Facebook page released a series of three official photographs taken at Windsor Castle, by renowned portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz.

The first portrait (above) is the Queen on the steps of the East Terrace and East Garden with four of her dogs: clockwise from top left Willow (corgi), Vulcan (dorgie), Candy (dorgie) and Holly (corgi). The Queen sure does love Corgis!

The second pic  is The Queen with her daughter The Princess Royal, taken in the White Drawing Room at Windsor Castle.

The third photograph is the Queen with her five great-grandchildren and her two youngest grandchildren,  taken in the Green Drawing Room, part of the Castle’s semi-State apartments.

I kinda dig all of these, even though generally I find Annie Leibovitz‘s work to be kinda over done and over lauded. That being said, these have taste and dignity, but they also seem personal and are visually interesting, so hey, maybe I’m not giving Annie the cred she deserves.

Which portrait is your favorite?
