2003 would not have been 2003 without Bennifer.
Being pretty much the most famous couple in the world meant a lot of pressure for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, and according to JLo probably played a large part in their breakup.
“We didn’t try to have a public relationship,” says Lopez in The Jess Cagle Interview with PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly‘s editorial director. “We just happened to be together at the birth of the tabloids, and it was like ‘Oh my God.’ It was just a lot of pressure.”
When she first met the actor, “I felt like … ‘Okay, this is it,'” says the Shades of Blue star (the show’s finale airs March 31). “[But] sometimes I feel like what you think people are and how you see them when you love them is different than when they reveal later.”
Now, this part is hazy- because I don’t remember the duo called off their wedding just one day before the ceremony. Do you? Crazy. Anyhow, Lopez went on to marry Marc Anthony, while Affleck began dating Jennifer Garner.
“I think different time different thing, who knows what could’ve happened, but there was a genuine love there,” reflects Lopez.
Sure. I mean the rumors were that Ben cheated, and ain’t nobody got time for that. So maybe she’s thinking she dodged a bullet, more than “what could have been.” HAH.
