Ariel Winter has taken her life and career into her own hands, and now she’s ready to talk about it.
Last year, the 18-year-old finally became an emancipated minor after a long court battle which the Department of Children and Family Services found evidence that her mom Chrisoula Workman was emotionally abusing her.
She’s been notoriously quiet about it, bu now, she’s really to talk, and opened up to Ellen DeGeneres on Monday about how she handled the whole thing:
“It’s been much better for me emotionally and physically to be on my own and have a better, safer household and support system.”
She’s been living for the past couple years with her older sister Shanelle Gray, who became her guardian back in 2012. Ariel said her big sis has “been there for me through absolutely everything,” and confirmed that neither of them talk to their mother.
Check out the interview HERE. She seems like she’s doing really, really well (finally). I bet it’s a huge relief to fans and friends of the actress.
