Kate Winslet is a gorgeous actress in our generation, so it’s hard to see why anyone would bully her over her looks, but apparently that’s the way it went down when she was younger. Kids can be so cruel, can’t they?
Kate opened up again about being teased when she was younger. In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, she said, “I was teased for how I looked. In part, yeah, because I was quite stocky as a child. And I was very much teased for that.”
She went on to say, “When I grew up, I never heard positive reinforcement about body image from any female in my life. I only heard negatives. That’s very damaging because then you’re programmed as a young woman to immediately scrutinize yourself and how you look.”
She has since made it her mission to help others build their own self confidence. She said, “You know, we walk down red carpets. You know, it’s part of the job. But I think I feel very strongly that it’s important to also say to young girls that we don’t look like that all the time.”
She even admits to dropping off her kids in a bathrobe. She added, “I even do the school run in my dressing gown. And pajamas. Yup, absolutely.”
