Jennifer Lawrence is putting Hollywood on blast for caring more about the physical appearance of actors and actresses over the talent that they possess. She insists that people shouldn’t focus only on a person’s weight or size, but if they have talent or not.
She revealed, “I hate all the focus on weight and size that you have in our business. I don’t think an actress needs to be skinny to be attractive and it sends the wrong message to young women. It’s important that, as actresses, we need to establish ourselves first and foremost for our talent and not for our physical appearance.”
She also opened up about the criticism she received because of her essay regarding the gender pay gap in the movie industry. She said, “I’m aware that movie stars earn too much money in relation to the rest of the world. But it’s the principle that is important. I can’t stand a lack of fairness. This has nothing to do with ingratitude – I love my job and I know how lucky I am to be able to live off my art.”
