Christie Brinkley and John Mellencamp sparked speculation that they were dating back in September, but when speaking with Howard Stern on his radio show on Monday, the model didn’t want to jinx things.
Howard asked, “Will you and John get married? I would like to be at the wedding. Are we headed in that direction?”
In response, she said, “I’ll tell you what I’m leery of. I am leery of discussing my relationship, because I don’t want to jinx it.”
She said that she didn’t want to talk publicly about marrying John because she felt “so dragged through the press” over the years.
Howard asked, “Are you leery of this relationship because you’ve already been married to Billy? Are there parallels?”
She replied with a laugh, “I love musicians. I think artists are the most amazing people because they’re constantly creating beauty for the world. With all the crazy stuff going on in the world, then there’s artists reminding us of our humanity and reminding us of our heart and soul and what really matters. I respect artists so much and I absolutely love music as the ultimate art.”
She isn’t so much concerned at the moment with walking down the aisle, but wants John to stop smoking already. Howard said, “This is one thing we have to discuss, and I’ve talked to John about this: he has to stop smoking. He won’t do it. He thinks it makes his voice sound better.”
She added, “The voice is already made. He has to stop.”
