After Jim Carrey’s former girlfriend Cathriona White sadly took her own life, everybody went looking for answers. Some pointed out that she was in a program through the Church of Scientology and now the church is speaking out. Apparently they don’t want to take the blame for her untimely death.
A critic of the controversial religion, Tony Ortega, claims that White was taking courses at the Hollywood Celebrity Centre and had stalled in them.
Ortega adds, “Cathriona originally got involved in Scientology about four to five years ago through members of musician Beck’s circle of friends. They encouraged her to move to the US from Ireland and take Scientology courses,” and that White had been “stalled . . . in the last six months” on an intense Scientology course called the Survival Rundown that can take “hundreds of hours to complete.” The blog also posted Instagram images of White, who died at 30, at the Celebrity Centre within the last year.
A rep for the religion said, “Saying that somebody was studying Scientology in the past and connecting that to a suicide is like saying a person who had previously studied the Bible committed suicide. It is sad and reprehensible that a paid anti-Scientologist like Tony Ortega is exploiting this terrible tragedy involving a young woman: It’s a sign of outright bigotry.”
