Sorry, old man Ryan Reynolds. Sometimes hitting the pavement is in your job description!
Apparently, doing his own stunts doesn’t seem as fun as it used to be for the movie star, the actor tells People:
“I remember 10 years ago when falling on cement was hilarious. It doesn’t feel like that anymore. I’m right at that age where I’ll do as many takes as they want, but I’m lying on the ground after each one thinking, ‘Oh, God. Just get up and get up fast. Don’t let them see you [in pain].’ “
Even so, he does still love a good fight, especially in his new psychological sci-fi thriller Self/less, which opened July 6.
“I love doing the fight stuff,” says Reynolds. “So much of it is character-based, so you want to be a part of that and put your fingerprints on that and do it as much as possible.”
That being said, he’s not trying to be a friggin’ hero over here.
“I certainly don’t jump in and do anything that’s really dangerous,” says Reynolds. “I’m not out there trying to be a superhero. “There are some stunts I didn’t do in Self/less, like the scene where a building explodes and I come flying out of it. That kind of stuff I just don’t mess around with. Even if I wanted to do it, I don’t think they would let me.”
That’s for sure. Don’t damage that pretty face, dude! I would like to keep gazing upon it’s splendor for decades to come…
