Rose McGowan isn’t the only actress brave enough to call out Hollywood sexism!
We’ve been doing lots of stories on the Charmed star lately, especially reporting on how the actress shared an objectifying casting note for an upcoming audition that encouraged her to wear clothes that “showed off cleavage.” Then, she got fired from her agency for calling it out!
Now, more women are rallying with the star in hopes of shedding light on the industry’s disappointing and detrimental misogynistic standards, including Jessica Chastain!
On Thursday, Women and Hollywood editor Melissa Silverstein took to Twitter to stand behind McGowan in the wake of her comments, writing:
“I stand with @Rosemcgowan who is pulling back the screen on sexism in hollywood. It is so needed. Thank you.”
Then, Chastain chimed in!
“As do I. Her treatment confirms the misogyny underpinning the industry. She should be celebrated for speaking out.”
And that’s just what we’re doing here at ICYDK, too. Celebrating bravery and change- progress into a less misogynistic period in entertainment history. Thank you, women! You rock.
