Haters eventually get called out on BS, Iggy.
Earlier this week, Iggy Azalea canceled her headlining turn at Pittsburghââ¬â¢s Pride in the Street event after backlash arose against some old homophobic tweets. They now have their much more LGBT-friend replacement in Nick Jonas, the Delta Foundation announced Wednesday.
Azalea bowed out on her own in a statement directed at the city after much controversy came from her history of being, uh, not the friendliest towards the gay community.
ââ¬ÅThis has been a difficult decision as I truly support the event and LGBTQIA communities,ââ¬Â Azalea wrote in the statement, ââ¬Åhowever I feel my participation at this point would only serve to further distract from the true purpose of the event.ââ¬Â
According to Delta president Gary Van Horn, Nick Jonas called up the festival organizers to offer up his services. Super freaking cool!
ââ¬ÅWhen I heard about the difficult position Pittsburgh Pride was in just days before their event, I knew I had to find a way to help,ââ¬Â said Jonas in a statement. ââ¬ÅIââ¬â¢m excited to do what I can to support the LGBT community in Pittsburgh, and I look forward to seeing you this Saturday as we celebrate together.ââ¬Â
The show is this Saturday. It’s good to know that celebs are getting called out for bigotry and hate- even if it isn’t completely overt or if it’s in the past. It sets a precedent!
