CNN reporter, Anderson Cooper, 46, was on Howard Stern on Wednesday, speaking about his lack of a trust fund. His mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, 90, is worth approximately $200 million, and Cooper expects to see none of it. That said, Anderson Cooper himself is worth $100 million and allegedly makes $11 million a year at CNN… so he won’t have to slum it any time soon.
“My mom’s made clear to me that there’s no trust fund,” he said. “There’s none of that. Who’s inherited a lot of money that has gone on to do things in their own life? From the time I was growing up, if I felt that there was some pot of gold waiting for me, I don’t know that I would’ve been so motivated. She made more money on her own than she ever inherited. We believe in working.”
Did I know Cooper was a Vanderbilt? I knew he was awesome, and handsome, and incredibly well-paired with Kathy Griffin on the New Years Eve Special. Anyway. Good for him, good for the Vanderbilts. Hopefully since he’s financially independent, his mother is opting to leave her money to some worthwhile causes. Like my children’s college fund.
