James Rebhorn, who played the father of Carrie Mathison on Showtime’s “Homeland” has passed away.
The actor, 65, died in his home on Friday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“He died from melanoma, which had been diagnosed in 1992,” agent Dianne Busch told THR. “He fought it all this time. He died Friday afternoon at his home in New Jersey, where he had been receiving hospice care for a week and a half.”
Rebhorn, who appeared in numerous supporting roles on television and film, also had a recent recurring part on USA’s “White Collar” as Special Agent Reese Hughes.
The Philadelphia-born actor’s career dates back five decades, and includes highlights such as roles in “Scent of A Woman,” “Independence Day” and “Meet the Parents,” among others, according to his IMDb filmography.
Rebhorn is survived by his wife Rebecca Linn. They have two children.
