Katy Perry reached out to rising star, Lorde, and asked if she wanted to open for her on her upcoming world tour. The Huffington Post reports:
“In the really early stages of an artist’s career, it’s important for them to establish themselves for themselves. I’m just basically really stubborn and I want to be really independent,” Lorde told an Australian radio station this week. “So I want to be headlining my own shows instead of supporting someone else. Which I think is fair enough.”
Lorde’s album, “Pure Heroine,” seems to be doing just fine on its own, as Lorde’s US tour is completely sold out. I turn the radio up for both of these beautiful singers – but I don’t really see their music as complimentary. Katy Perry is so upbeat, and Lorde’s is so ethereal. Following Lorde’s pass, the Perry tour has opted to use a variety of openers throughout the tour.
