Prince has filed a lawsuit against a group of online fans who have posted unauthorized Prince concert videos from the ’80s and beyond on Facebook and other boards.
As Consequence of Sound and The Guardian report, Princeââ¬â¢s court claim targets ââ¬Å22 internet usersââ¬Â for $1 million each. The people heââ¬â¢s suing consist of people who run the Facebook pages and other websites, which have been accused of ââ¬Åmassive infringement and bootlegging of Princeââ¬â¢s materialââ¬Â that amount to ââ¬Åup to thousands of separate acts of infringement and bootlegging.ââ¬Â
The plaintiff formerly known as Prince also alleges that the defendants ââ¬â 2 of whom are named, with the rest remaining anonymous ââ¬â ââ¬Âconstitute an interconnected network of bootleg distribution which is able to broadly disseminate unauthorised copies of Princeââ¬â¢s musical compositions and live performancesââ¬Â
Wonder if a lawsuit like this will actually hold up in court?
