Prince has filed a lawsuit against a group of online fans who have posted unauthorized Prince concert videos from the ’80s and beyond on Facebook and other boards.
As Consequence of Sound and The Guardian report, Prince’s court claim targets “22 internet users†for $1 million each. The people he’s suing consist of people who run the Facebook pages and other websites, which have been accused of “massive infringement and bootlegging of Prince’s material†that amount to “up to thousands of separate acts of infringement and bootlegging.â€
The plaintiff formerly known as Prince also alleges that the defendants — 2 of whom are named, with the rest remaining anonymous – â€constitute an interconnected network of bootleg distribution which is able to broadly disseminate unauthorised copies of Prince’s musical compositions and live performancesâ€
Wonder if a lawsuit like this will actually hold up in court?
