Selena Gomez recently announced that she was canceling the Australian and Asian leg of her world tour to take some time for herself. Rumors began swirling around as to why she’d cancel her tour. Some people claimed she was suffering a breakdown, some said she was headed to rehab.
But according to a new report by Popdust, Selena has been diagnosed with Lupus, and is taking time off to treat her disease.
According to the site, the 21-year-old singer was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease a couple years ago, and has suffered multiple “flares” recently. A “flare” causes facial swelling, joint pain, headaches and extreme fatigue.
“Selena has been going full throttle the past few years and her Lupus is really catching up with her right now,” a source told the website. “She knows that she needs to take some time to address the disease and look after herself better if she wants to live a full and healthy life.”
Selena’s rep has “no comment” on whether or not she’s suffering from the disease, but told E! News, “She is not having a breakdown. She wants to be the healthiest that she can be and this means taking a little break. But she is fine. She is OK.”
I hope the rumors aren’t true – and she’s okay! Lupus is a horrible disease!
