Playboy is turning 60 and in celebration of the milestone, they’ve tapped Kate Moss for their cover editorial.
Hugh Hefner’s son Cooper tweeted, “Kate Moss will be gracing the cover of our 60th anniversary issue this January. It’ll be a great issue.”
Moss, of course, is no stranger to shucking her skivvies for the camera. But the choice is noteworthy for a title typically associated with curvier women, from Marilyn Monroe to Pamela Anderson.
Hef doesn’t see any discrepancy. Moss is “a worldwide celebrity and iconic and crosses the boundaries from sexual imagery to upscale modeling,” Hefner told the Los Angeles Times. “It’s a natural for us.”
Indeed, Moss won’t just be posing in her birthday suit. She’ll parade signature Playmate paraphernalia, from bunny ears to silk stockings, reports the Times.
Playboy “is a massive global brand,” editorial director Jimmy Jellinek told the newspaper. “You need a global icon in order to celebrate that — that was the impetus. You’re talking about the face of Burberry, the biggest supermodel in the world on the cover of Playboy. She’s the perfect partner for us to help launch the next 60 years.”
Who helped launch the first 60? Monroe, of course.
I think Kate is the perfect choice! Can’t wait to see the pics (is that creepy?)!
