Lady Gaga was spotted in Chicago on Friday – riding in a wheelchair!

Gaga announced last week that she was going to have to cancel her ‘Born This Way’ world tour, due to the fact that she’s going to need hip surgery soon.  “After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip caused by strenuous repetitive movements in her performances,” a statement on her Little Monsters site explained.

“She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour, so she can heal.”

The picture above was taken by a fan at a Starbucks in Chicago. According to that fan, Gaga said her surgery would take place “within 4 or 5 days.” She’ll be holed up at boyfriend Taylor Kinney’s home, who also lives in Chicago.

Billboard has broken down the economic losses of cancelling a tour on this scale. From ticket refunds, to everything else that goes into a tour (thousands of employees overall), it was a loss of somewhere in the neighborhood of $25 million.

Gaga posted this picture (below) of her wheelchair, writing “This is Emma.”
