Oh thank heavens I am so relieved with how episode 12 of ‘Top Chef’ went on Wednesday. Last week’s episode made me CRAZY! Josie’s behavior almost sent my remote through my TV, but I refrained, and kept my cool.

Luckily this week’s episode went much, much better and I can breathe a sigh of relief! This post contains spoilers, so follow me after the jump and let’s talk about it!

The episode starts out with Josie in tears over Kristen’s elimination. She says she KNOWS how everyone feels about the situation, that she should have fallen on her sword, and it should have been her who was sent home, and not Kristen. But Josie says – it’s a competition… I’m here to win. In this case, she’s right! Kristen’s downfall was because she DIDN’T defend herself, and Josie did! Who can really blame Josie, when Kristen doesn’t even try to defend herself?

Stefan, Brooke and Sheldon are all keeping their fingers crossed that Kristen can win ‘Last Chance Kitchen’ and be back in the competition soon. (We all hop!)

In the Quickfire Challenge, the chefs are asked to come up with a new and delicious sushi plate. Everyone is sort of struggling with this one (Josh even tries to add bacon to his!?), but ultimately Stefan wins, taking home $5,000.

After the Quickfire Challenge, Tom Colicchio joins Padma in announcing the Elimination Challenge. Tom announces that the chefs will be cooking for some pretty heavy hitters – and the dish they have to master is FRIED CHICKEN. Have I ever talked to you guys about my love of fried freaking chicken before?? If I were on death row, my last meal would be Southern Fried Chicken with Macaroni & Cheese. Hands down. The little hairs on the back of my neck stand up when someone even SAYS fried chicken. There are a couple of restaurants here in Portland that do it RIGHT…. but everyone else is just posers. MMM, I knew I would love this episode. The Fried Chicken episode!

Well all of the chefs (with the exception of Southern boy Josh) are freaked out over fried chicken. It seems so easy, they say… but it really is soooooo difficult to execute!

The chefs head off to a beautiful house on the Sound in Seattle (have you ever been? It’s so beautiful!), and have to all work in a small kitchen to perfect their fried chicken.

Josh is using his grandpa’s favorite recipe, while Brooke is making a skinless fried chicken (who DOES that?). Lizzie has no clue what fried chicken even is, Josie SWEARS she’s got the best recipe, Sheldon makes something spicy, and Stefan decides to make Cordon Bleu (that’s not fried chicken!).

Timer goes off, and all the chefs take turns putting their plates in front of the judges. This has to be one of the BEST judging table sessions I’ve ever seen on Top Chef. Is it just me, or did all of the judges seem intoxicated? They were having SO much fun, I wanted to pull up a chair and join them! They were being BRUTALLY honest (Wolfgang Puck is ruthless!), and it was pretty funny.

Overall, the judges really liked Sheldon, Lizzie and Josh’s fried chicken. They really did not care for Brooke, Josie and Stefan’s. The latter three were called before the judges, and Josie again defended herself. Tom called her out for her time management problems, and Josie still wasn’t hearing it. She fought back, I’ll give her that! Even though the judges didn’t like Stefan or Brooke’s chicken, it was Josie this time who FINALLY went home! Thank god!

And now for the favorites…. I think we all knew Josh would win, and he did! Lucky bastard won 365 bottles of wine!! (Where can I sign up?)

Anyhoo, love him or hate him (I love him), Stefan is still in the show! 🙂 AND Josie and Kristen will face off in the Last Chance Kitchen!! Who will win!?
