Justin Bieber is about to make his acting debut, alongside Mark Wahlberg, in a new movie. ââ¬ÅThe scriptââ¬â¢s good and now weââ¬â¢re trying to figure out his whole schedule,ââ¬Â Wahlberg confirmed.
The movie is written by ‘How To Make It in America’ creator Ian Edelman, and the untitled film will star 41-year-old Wahlberg as a “reluctant mentor” to Bieber’s young basketball playing street hustler.
ââ¬ÅOriginally we had a great idea but we didnââ¬â¢t know what the script would be like, but then Ian just turned in this great f**g script,ââ¬Â Wahlberg explained, adding that Bieberââ¬â¢s manager and the filmââ¬â¢s co-producer Scooter Braun ââ¬Åis super excited about it.ââ¬Â
Wahlberg ââ¬â who Deadline reports will co-produce the picture along with Braun and his production partner Stephen Levinson ââ¬â previously described the film as an update of the Paul Newman, Tom Cruise film The Color of Money set ââ¬Åin the world of inner city basketballââ¬Â with Bieber playing the ââ¬Åwisecracking kid whoââ¬â¢s very talented.ââ¬Â
As for timing, Bieber is currently committed to his Believe World Tour until May of 2013 and Wahlberg has a slew of big ticket films coming out in the coming year ââ¬â including the sequel to the Seth MacFarlane hit Ted, a feature film adaptation of the 2006 documentary Cocaine Cowboys and a starring role in the next Transformers film.
Asked for when he believes film is set to begin principal photography, Wahlberg pinpointed early 2014 as a tentative date.
ââ¬ÅWith Transformers and Ted 2 and Cocaine Cowboys, maybe around February of next year we can shoot it.ââ¬Â
At first I was horrified, and then I calmed down and realized it IS Mark Wahlberg who I idolize for the most part (until he did ‘Ted’). If Mark has his hands in it, it can’t be that bad, right?
PS: I just love this picture of Bieber. He looks so…. soft.
