Here’s Selena Gomez and BFF Vanessa Hudgens on their way to the Golden Globes.  And you know, it’s times like these- post breakup times- where having your friends around makes all the difference.

And sometimes, you have let off some steam in public!

Taking the stage for a private concert benefiting UNICEF on Jan. 19, the 20-year-old actress made several cryptic references to moving on from an old relationship. Said Gomez:

“I’ve been through a lot the past few months. It’s been weird and sad and cool,” she told the crowd before introducing an acoustic cover of Justin Timberlake‘s scorned lover’s anthem “Cry Me a River.” “This song definitely speaks to me.”

And after that, onlookers said Gomez seemed to perform the song “angrily.” Still, Gomez remains positive about her future, with or without the famous Justin Bieber.

“Everything happens for a reason,” she added mysteriously, “so enjoy every moment.”
