The gorgeous Emmy Rossum covers SELF Magazine: “I’m fit because I make it a priority and it’s part of my job.”
I looooooooooove Emmy Rossum. I just do, I don’t know why. I love her in ‘Shameless’, it’s one of my guilty pleasures. She’s just cute and confident, and doesn’t seem like a real bitch. I love her Instagram pictures – she’s just a good girl, IMO.
The actress lands the cover of SELF Magazine this month, and in the article she opens up about her body, and what she does to stay in shape. I think the read is really honest and interesting. Here are some tidbits via Celebitchy:
Her favorite workouts: ââ¬ÅI like Physique 57, Burn 60 and SoulCycle or Flywheel, because I get positive energy from the people around me. You just canââ¬â¢t be the slacker. And I raise my hand like an idiot whenever the instructor asks if anyone is new to the class. Iââ¬â¢m, like, ââ¬ËYep, Iââ¬â¢m the loser who hasnââ¬â¢t been here before.ââ¬â¢ At least Iââ¬â¢m not going to screw myself up by doing it wrong!ââ¬Â
Her quickie weight-loss workout: ââ¬ÅWhen I want to drop weight quickly, I cut back on my cardio and do a lot of weights instead. Itââ¬â¢s counterintuitive, because you would think, I should stay on the treadmill for five hours. I also cut out all fruit and eat a lot of protein and vegetables. My go-to moves are walking lunges, leg raises and my favorite: four sets of 15 ballet pliés, holding 8-pound weights.ââ¬Â
She exercises every day: ââ¬ÅIf Iââ¬â¢ve had a meh workout the day before, and Iââ¬â¢m still not feeling it, then Iââ¬â¢ll do another meh one that day, too. I think you should just do something every day.ââ¬Â
Her longterm goal: ââ¬ÅI donââ¬â¢t want to do the Ironman or run 10 miles, but I do want to go up into space one day. It costs [hundreds of thousands] right now, but I hope eventually it will be $500. And I want to make sure my heart is fit enough to handle the trip when Iââ¬â¢m 50.ââ¬Â
Her version of ââ¬Åchaosââ¬Â: ââ¬ÅI donââ¬â¢t always make my bed. If my life is in a state of chaos, then I have to make it. But if Iââ¬â¢m happy in my life, then Iââ¬â¢m OK leaving a little chaos in my house.ââ¬Â
She has cheat days on her diet: ââ¬ÅWhen I was filming Beautiful Creatures, I ate 1,500 calories a dayââ¬ânutritionist Carrie Wiatt sent me meals from L.A. But I also gave myself two cheat days a week. Iââ¬â¢d eat a steak and fries, an ice cream sundae and then go to Pinkberry. Of course, then Iââ¬â¢d wake up the next morning and go, ââ¬ËOh, great, Iââ¬â¢m eating one poached egg and a green apple. Shoot me in the face.ââ¬â¢ But it was totally worth it. Now I can gain back those 6 pounds that I had lost to do the movie.ââ¬Â
She was raised on a macrobiotic diet: ââ¬ÅI was raised on a macrobiotic diet, so I was more interested in eating the junk food that other kids were eating, although Iââ¬â¢d have to make sure my mom didnââ¬â¢t know. My mom has never owned a saltshaker. Now I have to sneak these contraband little salt packets from take-out restaurants into her house so that I can salt my food.ââ¬Â
Know your limits: ââ¬ÅIââ¬â¢m not going to wake up like Gisele tomorrow. Thatââ¬â¢s just not going to happen. Sheââ¬â¢s a genetic freakââ¬âand stunning. Iââ¬â¢m a human being. Iââ¬â¢m fit because I make it a priority and itââ¬â¢s part of my job. I also try to stay confident, so 5 pounds up or down doesnââ¬â¢t affect my brain.ââ¬Â
Must love animals: ââ¬ÅI donââ¬â¢t like a guy if he doesnââ¬â¢t like my animals. I have a dog, Cinnamon, and a cat.ââ¬Â
She likes where she is right now: ââ¬ÅRight now Iââ¬â¢m probably in the best shape that Iââ¬â¢ve ever been in, although I donââ¬â¢t consider ââ¬Ëbest shapeââ¬â¢ to necessarily mean the skinniest. Iââ¬â¢ve been fatter and Iââ¬â¢ve been skinnier than I am right now, but Iââ¬â¢m more at peace than ever.ââ¬Â
I thought her routine was interesting. If she’s looking to drop weight fast she skips cardio and does just weights? Whatever works. Look at her, she seems to be doing fine!
