Katie Holmes’ short gig on Broadway is quickly coming to an end…

Her gig, the Broadway play Dead Accounts, starring Miss Holmes herself and actor Norbert Leo Butz, will close on Jan. 6, 2013…seven weeks ahead of schedule.

Holmes, 34, received good reviews for her portrayal of a Midwestern woman whose secretive brother returns home after a long disappearance. Dead Accounts began previews on Nov. 5 and opened Nov. 29 at the Music Box Theatre in New York City. It was originally scheduled to end Feb. 24, 2013…but not anymore!  Still no word on why the play is closing early, but I think we can all suspect it wasn’t doing so well financially (or maybe not. Who knows?) Producer Jeffrey Flynn released a statement about this sad news earlier this week.

“I am extremely proud of this production and the cast. Theresa Rebeck and Jack O’Brien have created an inspiring and hilarious new play and we are all sad to see Dead Accounts end on Broadway…I look forward to working with this remarkably talented cast and creative team again very soon.”
