Kirstie Alley: Lady Gaga Weight Criticism “Insanity”

Kirstie Alley is speaking out about everyone scrutinizing Lady Gaga‘s 25 pound weight gain!
“Most of my career I was pretty lean, so when I gained the weight, obviously people [noticed],” the former Fat Actress star, 61, tells PEOPLE. “With [Lady Gaga], she gains [25] pounds and it becomes this huge thing.”
Hmm…way to insert yourself into the argument, Ms. Alley. The former Fat Actress star also went on to comment on those Twitter pictures and tweets that show Gaga in a bikini, and quoting Marilyn Monroe (“To all the girls that think you’re ugly because you’re not a size 0, you’re the beautiful one. It’s society who’s ugly”):
Alley agrees with Gaga. “It’s Hollywood that is obsessed with weight. I think everyone should try to be healthy. Lean is better than not lean, but I think we send a horrible message to the world, especially to girls.”
The Dancing with the Stars all-stars contestant says Gaga was also pretty skinny to begin with.
”She was so freaking skinny that [25] pounds would make her a what, size 2? There’s an insanity here. I know it’s a pressure on her. I know it is. It’s really hard to play that game.”
I think these words are generally pretty positive, but does anyone else feel like Kirstie is being a little…me me me about all of this? It’s one thing to talk about Gaga, another thing to keep bringing up your own journey. Also, “lean is better than not lean?” Doesn’t that contradict her whole point about how being “you” is beautiful? And doesn’t Alley’s behavior (her constant weight fluctuations, diet solutions, etc.) also contradict this? Thoughts?!

No I don’t. She’s someone who has received a lot of weight criticism over the years so I think her opinion of weight and being in the public eye of scrutiny are relevant.
