Ryan Gosling to play Christian Grey in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ movie, according to author’s husband!

This is a rumor I can get behind!! Today the internet is abuzz with the rumor that Ryan Gosling is in the lead to play Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of the amazingly-super-selling-book ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’!
Where did the rumor start? With the author’s own husband! E.L. James‘ husband said that “last he heard” Ryan Gosling was the main choice to play the leading man and BDSM expert Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of the bestselling novel.
“Fifty Shades of Grey” movie casting rumors have been swirling since Universal Pictures and Focus Features purchased the rights to the to the novels in March for $5 million. Now, the juiciest tidbit comes from none other than “Fifty Shades” author James’ husband, Niall Leonard.
The United Kingdom’s Now magazine reportedly spoke with Leonard, who said that Gosling may very well play the hunky Grey:
The husband of Fifty Shades Of Grey author EL James has dropped a strong hint that Ryan Goslingwill take the lead role of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of the erotic novel.Niall Leonard says that ‘last he heard’ Ryan, 31, was in the frame to play the manipulative billionaire…
I really hope Ryan does sign on. If he signs on, there’s a good chance the movie won’t suck as badly as the books did!
Do you think that 31-year-old Gosling could pull it off? I think he would be great! He could pull it off, completely. I think he’s one of the few actors who could play a character like that. As far as I’m concerned, he’s the best actor they’ve talked about yet!

I am torn between desperately wanting to see Gosling in that role, and losing a bit of respect for him for doing it…

Is Christian Grey the Dom in the book? If that’s so, then I’m going to lose it if Ryan Gosling plays him. It was tough enough on me when James Spader did it in The Secretary. And by “lose it” my mean, all control of my self. Must. Stop. Thinking. About. This.

I think Ryan is a HORRIBLE choice!!! I love him don’t get me wrong, but he IS NOT Christian Grey. In my opinion this movie will be a disaster with him in the role. Christian Grey is described as a head turner, mouth drop to the floor, drop dead gorgeous, mysterious man. Ryan Gosling is NONE of that, he is hot but not that hot. Now go look up Matthew Bomer and tell me if that man isnt the PERFECT Christian Grey!!

@Wiggin – I agree 100%!

I agree that Ryan Gosling is hot but agree that Matthew Bomer would make the PERFECT Christian Grey!!! Can’t wait for the movie….BTW, did I read that right??? That the authors OWN husband said “If he signs on, there’s a good chance the movie won’t suck as badly as the books did!” Or was that the person who wrote the article?? Because the books certainly did NOT suck. Ask every woman in America who actually read them….just sayin

Not every woman in America loved that book, and yes, the book did suck big time. It was horrible. The movie will probably be suck too, maybe not as bad as the novel, but if I was an actor/actress I would not want to be involved in this project. Ryan Gosling will be losing a lot of respect if he chooses to play this role, not to mention he looks nothing as described in the novel. Christian Grey is supposed to be this perfect out of this world beautiful creature, and honestly there is not one single actor in Hollywood that fits that description.
