She’s disgusting, isn’t she.

Kate Upton has been called many things, and now we can add “vulgar” to the list. A pro-anorexia website has slammed the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl for her weight problem, claiming she’s 30 pounds too heavy.

The website (which I won’t mention) calls Upton a “cow”. “Let’s not pretend this is fashion. She looks thick, vulgar, almost pornographic – and she is a solid 30 lbs too heavy for this outfit,” read the site.

Unsurprisingly, they weren’t too entertained by Upton’s recent commercials for Carls Jr. burgers (see it here). “Huge thighs, NO waist, big fat floppy boobs, terrible body definition – she looks like a squishy brick. Is this what American women are “striving” for now? The lazy, lardy look? Have we really gotten so fat in this country that Kate is the best we can aim for? Sorry, but: eww!”

Pro-anorexia websites have been a worrisome part of online culture for over a decade, but as they grow increasingly “mainstream,” it’s important for the media to acknowledge how problematic they are — and to counteract them with positive messages for young women.

Popular social media/blogging site Tumblr has even had to add a stipulation to its terms of use. In February, they implemented a policy against blogs that promote eating disorders and self-harm. They also began streaming PSAs when users searched for eating disorder or self-harm related tags.

What’s more vulgar – Kate Upton’s curves – or the fact that there are pro-anorexia sites. How awful! Just what teenage girls need these days. I think the world needs more curvy models! I admit, Kate wears some pretty skimpy bikinis (doesn’t get more skimpy than this), but at least she has the curves to fill them!
