TRAILER TIME! ‘Jack Reacher’ starring Tom Cruise (odd timing)

‘Jack Reacher’ is Tom Cruise’s new movie, based on the hero of 18 books written by Lee Child. In the books, Jack Reacher is six-foot-five, and Tommy boy barely stands five-foot-six.
Just days after Katie Holmes announced she wants out of her marriage with Tom, the trailer for ‘Jack Reacher’ is released. The film stars Cruise as Reacher, a former military police officer investigating the case of a military-trained sniper.
Of course, whether audiences will buy into the film after Cruise’s latest press stumble remains to be seen.
“Tom is a huge movie star for the right reason: He’s a very talented actor whose movies have entertained millions of fans,” Paramount said in a statement to the New York Times. “[His] ability to make a great movie [is what] moviegoers remember above all else.” In that regard, Cruise struck out with “Rock of Ages,” but hit gold with “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.” That film, also released by Paramount, grossed $693 million worldwide after its release in Dec. 16, 2011.
Perhaps not coincidentally, “Jack Reacher” arrives in theaters on Dec. 21, 2012.
I think this is a horrible trailer. It doesn’t leave me feeling that I need to see the movie. It kind of left me feeling the same way after I watch Madonna perform on stage. Might be past his prime for these kinds of action movies (the last ‘Mission Impossible’ was pushing it). Who’s with me!

Is it just me, or is there an over-abundance of Cruise movies lately? I love Jack Reacher in the Lee Child books, but part of his character is that he is HUGE and menacing…6’5″ and 280 pounds. Try plugging in tiny Cruise and it just does not work. No other producer would do it, but hey, Tom owns the project and can mess it up however he wants.

I will never pay to see a Tom Cruise movie again. He can keep trying to hold onto his youth but it isn’t working.

Man, this SUCKS! I love the Jack Reacher books. I’ve read all of them and there is no way in hell that Tom Cruise can pull off the man named “Reacher” it’s just not possible. Jack has a code and is all about honor. He’s night about beating people up and driving fast cars as the movie trailer suggests. Wow, what a way to ruin a series. :O( boo!

I just can’t buy it. This guy doesn’t look or even act tough. He’s way too short, small, and overall unconvincing. I predict that while this movie may be profitable, it certainly will not be a blockbuster. Tom Cruise at 50 is pushing it way too far. It’s not believable anymore.

After seeing this trailer, all I can say is “Jack Reacher, meet John Carter.”
Unfortunately, there might not be another actor for this role. Jack Reacher has to have a little age to him, be tough as nails, and have swagger and attitude. Who else is there? Maybe Matt Damon or Kiefer Sutherland?
I’m going to suspend my belief and give Cruise a shot at this. After all, Lynn Collins was pretty unknown, and she turned out to be the perfect Dejah Thoris. I think Cruise can pull this off.

This Jack Screecher trailer was hysterical ! Its so laughable at best Tom being the tuff guy scaring the bad guys….How come he never gets hurt in his movies? He did get hung in Valkyrie but thats cause the director couldnt take his acting anymore. The car chases, fights and profanity is getting old. Give me James Garner in the “Great Escape” or James Cagney in “Yankee Doodle Dandy”!

Tom can’t pull off this film role. His height is only part of the problem, he is also continuously smug. I vote for the guy from True Blood, Joe Mangianelo. Joe is 6’5″ and a pretty good actor.

How about Jon Hamm? I bet he could pull it off! Or Liam Neeson?

Cruise’s movies are so annoying with the ten million close up shots of his face….enough already!
