“Man vs. Wild” has been canceled. Discovery Channel released a statement to The Huffington Post, “Due to a continuing contractual dispute with Bear Grylls, Discovery has terminated all current productions with him.”

The Hollywood Reports claims the network had been after Grylls to participate in two projects that were written into his contract, but they could not secure his participation.

“Man vs. Wild,” which has been on Discovery since 2006, attracted quite the following — including celebrity fans. Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell and Jake Gyllenhaal all appeared in episodes of the series.

While “Man vs. Wild” had a loyal following, it also had its critics. On multiple occasions, experts came out debunking some of the show’s claims, particularly that Grylls was surviving on his own in the wild. In 2007, The Daily Mail reported Grylls used hotels and wasn’t really surviving in the wild.

“Man vs. Wild” wrapped Season 6 in the fall of 2011.
