After only two years of marriage, Zooey Deschanel and husband Ben Gibbard have separated, a rep confirms to Us Weekly.

That seems like a lifetime compared to Kim and Kris!

“It was mutual and amicable,” a source adds. “There was no third party involved.”

The New Girl actress, 31, and Death Cab for Cutie frontman, 35, got married near Seattle, Wash. in late September 2009.

In Deschanel’s September cover story in New York magazine, Gibbard gushed about meeting and pursuing the star, who also fronts the band She and Him. “I’d seen her movies and obviously I thought she was very beautiful,” Gibbard explained.

When their mutual music manager finally introduced them three years ago, “I was just awestruck that she was even talking to me.”

Deschanel told iVillage that it was “definitely hard” being apart from her indie rocker guy when he was away on tour. “He’s really good at calling. He’s probably better than I am. He’s a very conscientious person.”

What surprised her most about marriage life? “You can’t expect to make no effort. You still have to make the effort and be kind and understanding. It sort of just solidifies your commitment.”

The heavily watched manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray is almost over, seeing as how the defense has rested and is now preparing their closing arguments.

Closing arguments are scheduled to begin Thursday morning — but the defense won’t be submitting any new evidence … so if they haven’t needled the jury with reasonable doubt yet in the death of Michael Jackson, they’re facing an uphill battle.

It’s also worth pointing out — jurors notoriously hate coming back to court on Monday if they can help it … which means there’s a 99.9999% chance they’ll come up with a verdict by Friday, presuming closing arguments don’t drag on.

Neil Patrick Harris may have come out to the world back in 2006 and now has two kids with his partner David Burka, but the actor admits that he still enjoys flirting with the ladies, saying that he still loves the attention.

“Not to get political, but I think the time, the pendulum/paradigm has shifted a little bit. I think there’s lots of girls that I talk to that know that I’m gay and still are flirty. I flirt right back.”

“I think flirting is great fun. It doesn’t mean that anything’s going to come of it but it’s fun to be told that you’re hot and that your tits look great.”

Director Tarsem Singh has recently had the opportunity of working with some of Hollywood greatest actors, and he spoke about filming with Julia Roberts on his Snow White project and Mickey Rourke in the November 11 release flick, Immortals.

Tarsem says that even though the two actors play evil characters in their respective films, their approach to their roles were much different. While Julia had a hard time getting to that point of nastiness, Mickey would embrace it and go full force:

“No, actually [Julia Roberts] would play this person and completely come down. She would be really mean to Lily and I remember every time I turned around, she said, ‘That’s like being nasty to Bambi. You just can’t do it.’ So people deal with it differently.”

“A person like Mickey would be like, ‘I think Bambi steak would be good.’ Deal with different things differently. There’s just a certain amount of crawliness that comes into a guy like that who can’t see very well, he’s not wearing any glasses, he’s got a contact in one eye and you’ve given him a spear and he’s holding it next to a girl’s eye. Just like having a child on set, a very big child.”
