With the theme the “Most Memorable Night of My Life,” Monday night’s Dancing with the Stars hit a heavy, emotional note, especially for contestant Nancy Grace. The legal commentator spoke with PEOPLE after her performance, saying that she thought of her soon to be 4-year-old twins, John David and Lucy Elizabeth, who suffered complications at birth.
“I very rarely look back on those times because they were so difficult,” Grace, who danced to “Moon River” – which is the very first lullaby she ever sang to the babies.
“It was really touch and go for a long time trying to keep Lucy alive. The joyful part is I looked over at them tonight … and it all seems like kind of an odyssey we went through.”
“It went on and on and on,” she recalls of that time. “It was months after that when I finally got out of a wheelchair. Even up until about a year ago I still couldn’t walk correctly, much less run the way I used to.”
She added, “It’s only … been the last year and a half I could … walk correctly after the delivery. This is a huge, huge stride forward for me. I really owe the dance tonight to Tristan because he knows the twins, and they love him, and he choreographed the entire thing to tell the story.”

Melanie Chisholm, most affectionately known as Mel C or Sporty Spice of the Spice Girl recently opened up about the tough times she had as a member of one of the most popular girl groups in the world. The 37-year-old mother revealed that being labeled ‘Sporty Spice’ made her a target in the tabloids for rumors which led to depression and bulimia.
“Being in the Spice Girls was amazing, but also very tough,” Chisholm admits. “I was young and impressionable, and I found it hard to read about myself.”
“The tabloids were cruel about my appearance, and nothing can prepare you for that,” the singer explains. “You just have to fight your way through it.”
Chisholm says “there were a lot of lies printed” about her during the band’s heyday, and tabloids often referred to her as “gobby” and “masculine.” Inevitably, that prompted “questions about my sexuality.”
Mel has been dating property developer Thomas Starr since 2002, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Scarlet, in 2009.
“When I see Scarlet playing her toy guitar and singing along, it reminds me of my own childhood,” Chisholm says. “My mum sang in a band and my stepdad played bass. There were always musicians in the house. It was a happy time.”
Though Chisholm recently released her fifth solo album, she hinted the Spice Girls may reunite to perform at the 2012 Olympics in London.
“Our last tour was amazing,” she says. “It rekindled old friendships and made me appreciate the other girls again. The Olympics would be brilliant, but I don’t know the truth. I’d love to do something, but it would have to involve all five of us.”

Music icon Cher may be cheering on son Chaz on Dancing with the Stars, but that doesn’t mean that she’s bashing the competition. The Huffington Post reported that Cher sent a stream of mean girl tweets this past weekend directed at the Kardashian sisters [Kim, Khloe, & Kourtney], but the 65-year-old singer is claiming she did no such thing.
“I was talking about Bridezillas and NOT the Kardashian girls,” she tweeted Tuesday.
On Sunday, the “Believe” singer tweeted: “I don’t watch reality TV! Never saw a Kardashian, but those bitches should be dropkicked down a freeway! Not kidding!”
She also tweeted the Huffington Post after they ran the story that she bashed the sisters:
“Guess this is not where you go for the truth! I don’t know why I was expecting real journalism! At some point they all sell out.”
Cher will get a chance to come face-to-face with the Kardashians Monday on DWTS. “Looks like I’ll be in the audience next week, lovelies!” she tweeted Tuesday after Chaz survived eliminations. (Kristin Cavallari was sent home.) “Thank you so much!”
Bono, 42, and Rob Kardashian, 24, are both still in the running for the Mirrorball Trophy.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are living the married life, and that means getting digs at each other on national television while the world watches. While visiting Jay Leno‘s Tonight Show, the newlyweds awkwardly shared what annoys them about the other:
Kim: “He literally barks like a dog. Him and his boys … arf arf arf.”
Said Kris, “It’s like, hey, to get attention.”
Then Kim told him, “You know what we nicknamed you? The dog.”
“The dog?” said Kris. “That’s terrible.”
While visiting The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the pair jokingly renewed their wedding vows with Ellen officiating, saying, “We’re gathered her today because we were the 300 people who weren’t invited to the wedding.”
Ellen also asks Kim, “If you could get married again, what would you differently?
Kim: “Elope.”
Kris: “Really? I would say longer after-party.”
Kim: “I would say longer after-party but I was so crazy for an entire month…I literally I went crazy. It was so stressful.”
