Amy Winehouse’s official cause of death has just been released. The late singer died as the “unintended consequence of drinking too much alcohol”, a British coroner ruled Wednesday. In other words, Amy died of accidental alcohol poisoning.
Coroner Suzanne Greenaway ruled a “death by misadventure,” saying the singer died of accidental alcohol poisoning. “The unintended consequence of such potentially fatal levels (of alcohol) was her sudden and unexpected death,” Greenaway said.
The singer, who had fought drug and alcohol problems for years, was found dead in bed at her London home on July 23 at age 27. An initial autopsy proved inconclusive, although it found no traces of illegal drugs in her system. Pathologist Suhail Baithun told the inquest into the singer’s death that Winehouse had consumed a “very large quantity of alcohol” — the level in her blood put her more than five times over the legal drunk-driving limit.
Police Detective Inspector Les Newman, who was called after a security guard found Winehouse, said empty vodka bottles were scattered around her bedroom. Winehouse’s doctor, Dr. Christina Romete, said the singer had resumed drinking in the days before her death after a period of abstinence. Romete, who saw Winehouse the night before she died, said the singer was “tipsy but calm.” She said Winehouse had not spoken of suicide, and talked about her upcoming birthday. Romete said Winehouse had been prescribed drugs including the sedative Librium to help her cope with the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal, but the coroner said these had played no role in her death.
Winehouse family spokesman Chris Goodman said it was a relief to the family “to finally find out what happened to Amy.” “The court heard that Amy was battling hard to conquer her problems with alcohol and it is a source of great pain to us that she could not win in time,” he said.

“And rumor Number two: no, we’re not pregnant,” she said. “It’s just I quit smoking, so I’ve gained a couple of pounds.”
The private star previously told Elle magazine that she feels “no desperation” to have a baby. “If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. I’m at peace with whatever the plan is. But will you hate me if I say I don’t want to talk about my relationship?”

Comedian Patrice O’Neal, who recently performed at the “Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen”, suffered a stroke last week, according to his friends on the “Opie and Anthony Show.”
O’Neal’s pal Jim Norton made the announcement on the air this morning … adding, “We wanted it to come from us … we don’t know how he is. We don’t know how he’s going to be.”
Norton added, “I didn’t want to do this by myself. I wish we had more news for you.”

Okay, seriously…what is up with the Lohans? Papa Michael Lohan is always in the media’s face about what he knows is the answer to his daughter Lindsay‘s trouble whether they pertain to drug addiction, lifestyle battles or court troubles, but it was his recent second arrest for domestic violence that has the world asking if Lindsay’s media attention is just the product of a generational curse.
According to the police documents, Michael’s ex-girlfriend Kate Major told officers that during a visit to discuss the upcoming court hearing for the previous domestic violence case, Michael freaked out and threatened to kill her because she wouldn’t perform oral sex on him.
You read that correctly.
Major claims Lohan pushed her multiple times and squeezed her arms. She claims Mike also told her he would “slit both his wrist and her wrist. He also threatened to throw her off the balcony (4th floor).”
Kate says Michael threw a TV remote control at her … but he missed, so he smashed her cell phone.
Major also told police Lohan came over to her apartment the night before … and they got into an argument that turned physical. Major says she threatened to call police, but Michael banged his head on a door, causing his forehead to bleed … and warned that if cops came over, he would blame her for the injury.
Major told cops she regretted not calling police at the time, but insists “she was scared.”
Michael also said that the incident had to do with a sexual encounter, but shifted the blame onto Kate.
“[Kate Major] did not want Michael to ejaculate inside her. Michael Lohan stated he did ejaculate in her and his girlfriend got very angry.”
Michael told cops Kate told him she may have been pregnant from previous sexual encounters with him … which caused an argument … but Lohan insists he never laid a hand on Kate.
Michael also told cops the cut on his forehead was caused by Kate … who slammed her apartment door in his face on the previous night.
The two were scheduled for court to lift the previous restraining order from the first domestic violence incident. *sigh*
Remember the ‘Burglar Bunch’ who went around breaking into famous people’s homes and taking random items for the fun of popularity? Well their ‘ringleader,’ Rachel Lee, has been sentenced to four years in prison for her part in the robbery of Audrina Patridge‘s home.
21-year-old Lee pleaded no contest to one count of first degree residential burglary last month … after she was accused of entering Patridge’s home through an unlocked door on the night of the Academy Awards.
Lee was accused of taking around $43k worth of items from the home — including Audrina’s passport, various pieces of jewelry, a laptop and designer jeans.
4 other members of the gang are still awaiting trial for allegedly taking part in burglarizing the homes of Orlando Bloom, Megan Fox, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan between Sept. 2008 and August 2009.
There’s a good chance that Rachel won’t actually serve tim ein prison because her crime was a non-violent offense, so she’s looking at county jail time.
