Pictures are finally rolling in on Steven Soderbergh’s new film, ‘Magic Mike’. The movie is a film about a stripper (Channing Tatum) who takes a fellow exotic dancer (Alex Pettyfer) under his wing. Both dancers work at club Xquisite, which is run by Dallas, a retired dancer played by Matthew McConaughey.
The film is loosely based on Channing’s own experiences. He was an exotic dancer before breaking into acting.
Channing was spotted today in between filming scenes with co-stars Olivia Munn and Wendi McLendon-Covey in Los Angeles. ‘Magic Mike’ also stars True Blood hunk Joe Manganiello, White Collar hottie Matt Bomer, and British actor Alex Pettyfer.
Wonder if any “stripper” photos will surface from the set?
I have to admit something. I’ve never seen ‘Scarface’. I know, I know, it’s un-American. I might as well also admit that I’ve never seen any of the ‘Godfather’ movies. I went a looooooooong time where I couldn’t handle overly-violent movies. I would always choose a comedy/drama/romance over anything violent. But as I’m getting older – I should broaden my horizons, and watch some of these older classics. I should probably do it before they massacre the original, because Deadline.com is reporting that ‘Scarface’ is being re-made.
Universal Pictures is working on a new film in the “Scarface” canon, looking to use the basic elements of the first two films — produced in 1932 and 1983, respectively — to create a new rags to riches, immigrant mobster story.
The move is sure to draw howls from the legion of fans of the Al Pacino-starring film, which featured the the Oscar winner as a Cuban immigrant who grows to own the Miami drug market. Though Hollywood has always thrived on recycling its own products — “Scarface,” after all, is a remake — the industry has ramped up the reboot cycle in the past few years.
This year alone has featured box office duds “Conan the Barbarian” and “Fright Night 3D,” as well as a new “Final Destination” and “Scream” film. This fall, a remake of 80s classics, “Footloose,” and “21 Jump Street” hit theaters, while a re-telling of the famed British miniseries “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” will also make its way to screens. Just recently, a remake of surfer film “Point Break” was announced, to much dissatisfaction amongst fans. Martin Scorcese just announced a remake of “The Gambler,” while Johnny Depp is currently working on his own remake of the TV show, “Dark Shadows.”
Looks like every college freshman dorm room in America will have a new poster option.
I am really weary of remakes. I think 9 times out of 10 they should have just left well enough alone. What do you think of this news?
Last month it was reported that Brenda Song and Trace Cyrus were expecting their first child together. Fast forward a couple weeks – and then Brenda’s mom releases a statement saying her daughter is most definitely NOT pregnant. She told Star “It’s very upsetting to our family because of what I’m going through and it’s not how we raised her.”
The couple were spotted together yesterday at a mall in Sherman Oaks, where Brenda was wearing some very baggy clothes — hiding her belly under a belt and flowy top.
Do you think she really is pregnant – and Grandma Song can’t accept it? Or is she really not pregnant?
29-year-old Kirsten Dunst and costars shot a scene for their new movie, Bachelorette, in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park.
The three women appear as best friends who agree to attend the wedding of a girl they called Pigface back in high school.
Although they dislike the bride, Becky (Rebel Wilson), her motivation for inviting the girls to her nuptials isn’t entirely selfless, either.
The film also stars James Marsden and Caplan’s former Party Down co-star, Adam Scott. It is based on Leslye Headland’s Off-Broadway play; she is also directing.
Luckily for the three lead actresses, their real lives aren’t as unlucky as their characters.’
35-year-old Isla Fisher is happily married to Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen; the couple also has two daughters, 3-year-old Olive and Elula Lottie Miriam, who was born last summer.
29-year-old Lizzy Caplan is now dating Friends star Matthew Perry; the two met after she appeared on an episode of his now cancelled series, Mr. Sunshine.
But Dunst is by far the luckiest as of late.
The blonde has not only been dating Rilo Kiley drummer Jason Boesel for the last 18 months, but also won the Best Actress award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival for her role in director Lars von Triers‘ Melancholia.
She stars as Justine, a girl who suffers from a crippling depression in the movie.
I cannot wait to see ‘Melancholia’. Have you seen the trailer? Watch it here!
It’s romantic because Ryan is there – and everything he does is sexy.
Ryan Gosling with his current flame Eva Mendes were spotted hiking near Griffith Park Observatory.
Things are definitely going well for Eva and Ryan since their first date in Disneyland. The two have finished filming the movie that brought them together, A Place Beyond the Pineswhich is a good sign that the relationship may have some room to grow. Let’s hope so – they’re super cute together.
