The ‘Game of Thrones’ hottie stepped out at Comic-Con late last week, but it wasn’t his hit HBO show alone he was promoting, but his new big-screen remake of ‘Conan the Barbarian’.

Momoa is one of the biggest stars of this year’s annual ComicCon, and he owes it all to embracing his inner savage. Momoa was a highly-anticipated presence on HBO’s panel for Game of Thrones, the acclaimed series in which he played the primal warrior king Khal Drogo. His work on Thrones has paved the way for audiences to accept him as the ultimate barbarian, Conan of Cimmeria.

“Oh, they hate me,” he said of Conan fans’ initial reaction to his casting. “Everyone’s like, ‘Who? Baywatch? Stargate?’ It’s like, ‘I can do more than that.’

“Once Game of Thrones came out, people were like ‘holy sh—’, Conan is going to be badass,” Momoa said in an interview at ComicCon. “After seeing Drogo, they were like ‘all right, this guy can do it.’”

During the Thrones panel, Momoa did reveal one tidbit that Conan fans might dispute. When asked who would win in a battle between the two skilled fighters, Momoa was far from neutral.

“Between you and me, Drogo would kick Conan’s ass,” he said before yelling a Dothraki war cry into the microphone.

As for Conan, Momoa admits he’s never watched Schwarzenegger’s original film or its sequel.

“I’ve never played a role that had already been played before and I really don’t feel that I would need to see Arnold’s performance to help me with mine. There is so much source material, tonnes of stories, comic books and the (art was) big for me. I wanted to build my character from the ground up.”

Momoa said he studied Conan stories and artwork to help shape his performance.

“It’s movement to me, all movement,” he said of the character. “In those Dark Horse (Comics) . . . I tried to train my body and (do) stance work. Also the way he prowled, I felt like he was just a big cat, so I went and studied lions and watched how lions and panthers moved . . . I also studies a lot of old samurai movies, I wanted to be able to wield a broadsword like a samurai sword . . . and having to shave your body and put 20 pounds of weight on absolutely changes the way you move.”

I can’t tell you how obsessed I am with ‘Game of Thrones’. I’m so bummed it’s over for the season! I have to wait until next year for season two, but until then, I might have to check out ‘Conan the Barbarian’ to get my Mamoa fix.

Here are the first promotional pictures from Snow White and the Huntsman, the retelling of the Snow White story. Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth were at Comic-Con to promote the film. What’s interesting, is even though we have these images of the film, the movie hasn’t even begun filming yet.

If fans at the Comic Con convention were looking for a little action and verbal sparring, that’s exactly what they got when Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron took stage to promote their movie Snow White and the Huntsman.

Kristen, 21, and Charlize, 35, engaged in some playful fighting talk yesterday as they unveiled the first character images from their upcoming fairytale film. The South African actress admitted she didn’t really know Stewart, but said she had a feeling the Twilight star was going to ‘give me a run for my money.’ Theron added: ‘And I’m ready for it b**ch, let’s go!’

Producers debuted the first photos of Stewart, as an armoured, sword-wielding Snow White, and Theron, as the Evil Queen, at the Comic-Con fan convention in San Diego, California. The film’s co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin also attended the panel discussion.

Stewart told the massive crowd of assembled fans that doing a traditional Snow White was not something ‘I was jumping at.’ What attracted her was that this Snow White is more edgy: ‘I get to have a sword and stuff,’ Stewart said.

Charlize plays the evil queen and Chris Hemsworth co-stars as the huntsman. Cameras will begin rolling on the highly anticipated fantasy film next week in London. The movie is due out next June and is one of two Snow White movies set to hit theatres.

The other Snow White film will star Lily Collins and Julia Roberts as the evil queen. The Julia Roberts version does not yet have a title, but the team behind the movie recently moved up its release date.

I don’t know if it’ll be any good, but I’m certainly intrigued! I’ve missed Charlize Theron! The Oscar winner hasn’t had a major movie role since 2008′s ‘Hancock’!

Amy Winehouse is seen here just this past June performing (if you can call it that) at the Belgrade Music Festival. The singer stumbles high (or drunk) on stage, and fiddles with her shoes forever, before attempting to sing a song.

It’s incredibly sad. Just one month later she’s dead.

I was away over the weekend, and came home to a bunch of texts that Amy Winehouse had passed away on Saturday. While I was shocked she had died, I wasn’t totally surprised, either. The troubled singer had given disastrous concerts recently, and has been in and out of rehab for months (if not years).

While her death is still officially unexplained, many are suspecting a drug overdose.

Winehouse’s mom, Janis, saw her daughter just a day before her death, and told the Daily Mirror that her dying “seemed only a matter of time.”

“She seemed out of it. But her passing so suddenly still hasn’t hit me,” she told the paper, saying that Amy told her that she loved her, and that she’d treasure those words forever.

The Mirror also takes accounts from unnamed friends who reveal that Winehouse was in the midst of a weeks-long drinking binge, and that, according to an MTV producer and others, she died of a bad ecstasy pill.

Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail, British tabloid The People reports that Winehouse was seen buying cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and ketamine the night before her death; any tabloid report, of course, must be taken with a grain of salt.

Officially, as noted, police are treating the death as unexplained, and an autopsy will be performed on Sunday or Monday, according to conflicting reports.

Winehouse appeared wobbly in taking the stage on Wednesday, where she made a surprise performance at the iTunes Music Festival to support goddaughter Dionne Bromfield. She danced on stage, but did not sing, only whispering into the microphone the few times it was passed to her.

Is there trouble in paradise for Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio? That’s what Star magazine is reporting in their latest issue. The mag spoke with alleged sources close to the pair about how the duo have been talking about the nature of their relationship, specifically noting their outing at the gastropub Father’s Office in Santa Monica recently.

“They talked about their relationship extensively,” an observer tells Star magazine in this week’s issue.

“All the serious talk must have gotten to Leo. He threw back a number of beers, to the point that Blake told him to slow down.” Weeks before, Leo had put the brakes on their new romance, blaming Blake’s “clinginess,” an insider tells Star — leaving her devastated. He was soon cavorting with a bevy of babes.

While at Beacher’s Madhouse cabaret club at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in L.A. on July 13, “He was surrounded by girls and clearly loved every minute of it,” a source tells Star. “He seemed especially taken with one sexy brunette.”

And though Leo and Blake has been parically joined at the hip since May, he took his mom, Irmelin, to the early July wedding of his close friend, producer Ryan Kavanaugh, in Capri, Italy.

The couple’s intense heart-to-heart at Father’s Office seemed to smooth over their problems. “By the end,” says the observer, “Blake and Leo were laughing and holding hands.”

But their issues appear unlikely to just fade away. Mama’s boy Leo wasn’t pleased that Blake made a bad impression on Irmelin when the three dined together in June.

“Leo told Blake that his mom thought she was trying too hard.”
