Katy Perry, who covers the latest issue of Vanity Fair, spoke to the magazine about her lack of childhood, secretly getting birth control, and how her evangelical minister parents feel about her rise to fame:
“It was considered like the abortion clinic…I was always scared I was going to get bombed when I was there. I didn’t know it was more than that, that it was for women and their needs. I didn’t have insurance, so I went there and I learned about birth control”
“I think sometimes when children grow up, their parents grow up,…Mine grew up with me. We coexist. I don’t try to change them anymore, and I don’t think they try to change me. We agree to disagree.”
Katy claims that though she’s open-minded, saying:
“I have always been the kid who’s asked ‘Why?’ In my faith, you’re just supposed to have faith. But I was always like…why?” Perry tells VF. “At this point, I’m just kind of a drifter. …My sponge is so big and wide and I’m soaking everything up and my mind has been radically expanded. Just being around different cultures and people and their opinions and perspectives.”
She and her parents have learned to agree to disagree:
“They’re excited about [my success]. They’re happy that things are going well for their three children and that they’re not on drugs. Or in prison.”
She also talks about not having the same spiritual beliefs as husband Russell Brand, and why she trusts him:
“Russell is into Hinduism, and I’m not [really] involved in it. He meditates in the morning and the evening; I’m starting to do it more because it really centers me. [But] I just let him be him, and he let’s me be me. [He] never lied to me once. I trust him; there’s just a level of trust that we’ve built up.”

Chelsea Clinton surfaced in New York last night, May 3, alongside her husband, Mark Mezvinsky, to support the highly controversial issue of gay marriage at Lavo nightclub. The happy couple were all smiles despite rumors that were floating around earlier this month that there may have been trouble between the two, and Chelsea even hinted that the couple expanding their family:
“As a New Yorker who not that long ago got married in New York to her best friend … I certainly believe that all of my friends should have the right, as Mark and I did, to marry their best friend,” Clinton said.
“I certainly expect my straight friends to help us achieve that for all New Yorkers, for all Americans, and for the children that, at least, Mark and I hope to have someday.”
Chelsea is on the advisory board for the group, Friendfactor, that put on the event at the nightclub.

While many speculate as to who the father of 33-year-old Mad Men star January Jones‘ child is, her co-stars are in her corner, saying that they believe she would be a great mom.
Fellow Mad Men actor Aaron Staton told PEOPLE:
“It’s something that she’s wanted to do and that she’s excited to do. January is such a sweet person. I think she’s an honest person. I think she’s really going to be a great mother.”
He goes to say that he doesn’t believe January will need a lot of advice:
“So much of it is natural. It’s sort of intimidating, but so much of it comes naturally when you meet the kid.”

The always gracious ountry star Shania Twain has recently opened up about the devastating effects of her 2008 divorce that have left her feeling more empowered than ever before. She described the dissolution of her 14-year relationship to Robert Lange when she spoke with Oprah Winfrey about his affair with her assistant and very close friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud.
“I didn’t want to live.”
The 45-year-old singer now takes the break-up as “a very positive thing,” saying it was the wake-up call she needed.
Though Robert and Marie-Anne have yet to admit to any infidelity, she confessed that she once wrote Marie-Anne, asking her:
“Why are you torturing me? Let it go, please…find love somewhere else from someone else.”
That’s so heartbreaking! She further explained her current feelings about writing the letter, stating:
“I know it was pathetic, but we all have pathetic moments. No one is above this type of low.”
She concluded:
“I’ve trapped my own voice, and now I’ve got to unwipe all that. I really can’t imagine not singing again.”
I’m happy she can see the positivity in such a horrible time in her life. Inspiring! Shania is currently married to Marie-Anne’s ex-husband, Frédéric. The two turning to each other for support and comfort when they found out their partners were together.

Young lovers Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber haven’t been shy about their public displays of affection. She recently spoke with Seventeen magazine about falling in love and not wanting to hide her relationship.
“I don’t like hiding. I do like to keep certain things to myself, but at the end of the day, I’m 18 and I’m going to fall in love. I’m going to hang out with people and I’m going to explore myself, and I’m okay with that.”
“When I went through my first breakup, I thought it was the end of the world, and I thought I was going to die if I didn’t have him in my life. It was good to cry it out and just scream, or call my friends in the middle of the night crying.”
She also spoke about her good friend Demi Lovato:
“There’s an amount of love that can never – no matter what – be taken away or torn apart, no matter the situation. There are certain people who you will always, always love, so if anything, this just reminded me of how much I truly love her.”
