Zooey Deschanel is making a rather shocking move, if you ask me! The cute artsy, indie movie actress is leaving the big screen behind for the time being, and moving to TV!

She created a sitcom, which was picked up by Fox. “The New Girl” will star Deschanel as “an unlucky-in-love elementary school teacher who moves away from her former boyfriend and in with three unruly guys.”

Zooey Tweeted her excitement last night saying “I am thrilled that our show got picked up & so excited to work with this great group of people!also know I’m getting humblebragged. whatevs.”

Often cast as the sarcastic best friend or quirky object of affection, Deschanel has made her biggest on-screen impact thus far in the 2009 romantic darling “(500) Days of Summer,” which paired her, a hard-to-get dream girl, with an earnest Joseph Gordon-Levitt. She played a small part as Belladonna in the recent stoner fantasy “Your Highness,” starring Danny McBride, James Franco and Natalie Portman, and she’ll play one of Paul Rudd’s three beleaguered sisters in the upcoming “Our Idiot Brother.”

How can you go wrong with a cast like Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan and Christina Hendricks?

Just released is a clip from the new movie, ‘Drive’, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn.

The film features Gosling as a Hollywood stuntman who works as a robbery getaway driver by night, with Mulligan playing the woman who sets one night’s run — and with it, Gosling’s life — on a very diverted path. After its Cannes showcasing, the indie thriller will hit American theaters on September 23rd.

It’s a busy time for Gosling; while this film is beginning its theatrical life, he’ll soon be starring in “Logan’s Run,” and just signed on to make another movie with his “Blue Valentine” director, Derek Cianfrance, titled, “The Place Beyond The Pines.”

Mulligan will play Daisy Buchanan in the upcoming epic adaptation of “The Great Gatsby,” while Hendricks will soon feature in “I Don’t Know How She Does It,” with Sarah Jessica Parker.

30-year-old Jake Gyllenhaal has shaved his head for his new movie, ‘End of Watch’, a police drama costarring Michael Pena. The movie doesn’t begin filming until July, but he’s been in L.A. shooting promos for the film.

According to E! Online – the father of January Jones baby maaaaaaaaay be revealed.

While many suspected the father of her baby to be SNL actor Jason Sudeikis, whom Jones dated for about four months, now a “knowledgeable” source says Jason is not the daddy. So whooooooooooooooooo is the lucky guy? How about Michael Fassbender (he plays Magento in the new film)!

According to very well placed movie insiders, closely connected to Jones (who’s been shooting X-Men: First Class), January was involved with someone on set—and that someone is the father of her child.

Hmm, no wonder Sudeikis was so tongue-tied when a Washington Post reporter asked him at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner if he had any comment about Jones’ sudden baby bump, saying, “I’d rather—yes but no.”

Was he surprised to find out she was pregnant?

“No, I—no, I didn’t have anything [else to say],” Sudeikis stammered. The reporter added, “Sudeikis seemed comfortable being asked about the situation, just unwilling to say too much.”

Last month, Jones’ rep would only confirm the pregnancy, telling us, “January Jones is happy to announce that she is expecting her first child this fall” and no word back yet from the rep on baby daddy inquiries.

I approve of this pairing.
