When it comes to writing with flair and being a top-selling author, Lauren Conrad makes it look so easy. The reality star’s debut teen novel, L.A. Candy, was No. 1 on a New York Times bestseller list.

And that was just the beginning for LC… because she just landed a three-book deal with HarpercCollins!

Called The Fame Game, the Hills alum’s upcoming trilogy is set in the reality TV universe, and features Madison Parker, an ambitious, ruthless character from the L.A. Candy series who’s ready to become a star in her own right. In her way? Backstabbing family friends, dogged paparazzi and one media scandal after the next!

“We took the mean girl of the [L.A. Candy books], spinning her off,” Conrad, 25, tells Us of The Fame Game‘s tough protagonist Madison.

“This series is about a girl who loves everything that fame is, and that’s all she’s ever really wanted,” Conrad explains. “[Madison] has fun with the press, she enjoys the attention, she welcomes scandal!”

If Madison sounds familiar (Heidi Montag, perhaps?), Conrad assures Us her characters aren’t based on anyone real. “No. We have fun with it! We kind of take [Hollywood] stereotypes.

With a clothing empire to run as well (her third line debuts this fall), when does Conrad write?

“Between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m.,” Conrad tells Us. “My phone doesn’t ring, and there’s nothing on TV!”

Is Conrad’s longtime beau, actor Kyle Howard, an L.A. Candy devotee? “He read my first book, which was very sweet,” Conrad says, laughing. “I told him he didn’t have to read the rest. ”I don’t think he’s the target market!”

The paperback edition of Conrad’s third L.A. Candy book, Sugar and Spice, goes on sale Tuesday.

James Marsden plays a comedic cheerful character side-by-side with the Easter Bunny in ‘Hop’… but watch out because he’ll end up being not-so-friendly on the big screen. That’s because James has been cast to play criminal Charles Manson in the upcoming film ‘The Dead Circus’.

The film will take on the case of singer Bobby Fuller, whose death, though ruled a suicide, raised suspicion of foul play and potentially murder.

The script, which is yet to be written, will focus on the allegations that Manson and his Manson Family were behind the murder.

Michael C. Hall will play one of Fuller’s managers, while Melissa Leo takes on the role of a former Manson Family member. Hall, of course, is more than familiar with the serial killer genre as the star of Showtime’s “Dexter.” Leo won an Oscar for her role in “The Fighter” this year.

Marsden recently finished shooting “Nailed,” a comedy co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal and directed by David O. Russell. He’ll also film the thriller “Loft” later this year.

According to tax documents, the former ‘DWTS’ star made more than $262 thousand in 2009 for her role as a spokesperson for a teen pregnancy prevention campaign

The former “Dancing With The Stars” contestant became an ambassador for The Candie’s Foundation in 2009 when she was 18 … just a few months after giving birth to her son, Tripp … and according to tax documents, the job PAID OFF.

The foundation’s website says Bristol “plays an important role by helping other teens understand the incredible challenges teen parents face, and encouraging them to wait until they are socially and financially independent to start their families.”

According to the website, Bristol is still working for the organization.
