A day after her embarrassing arrest for being publicly intoxicated, Christina Aguilera has been named a musician coach on NBC’s upcoming musical competition The Voice.
Aguilera was officially announced as the third judge on NBC’s “The Voice,” their new singing competition reality show meant to rival Fox’s “American Idol”. She joins Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine of Maroon 5, potentially giving the new upstart a more popular judging panel. In fact, they won’t only judge, but they’ll coach the contestants, too.
The show is to be produced by Mark Burnett and John de Mol, who created “The Voice of Holland,” the Dutch television obsession that the show will be based on. Carson Daly is set to host.
In a statement, Aguilera said:
“I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it. To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists’ careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms.mI am so happy to be working with fellow Grammy Award winners Adam and Cee Lo as I feel there is so much we can all bring to ‘The Voice’.”

In the midst of the political upheaval in Libya, celebs such as Beyonce, Usher, Mariah Carey and Nelly Furtado have been under major scrutiny for performing for the leader in the past, some for up to $2 million.
Singer Nelly Furtado tweeted on Tuesday that she is planning on donating the $1 million she received in 2007 to charity, and there has been a public outcry for the other entertainers to follow in her footsteps.
Beyonce’s spokesperson, Yvette Noel-Schure, made this statement on behalf of the pop star:
“All monies paid to Beyonce for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year’s Eve 2009, including the commissions paid to her booking agency, were donated to the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, over a year ago. Once it became known that the third party promoter was linked to the Qaddafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause.”
Both Furtado and Beyonce are the only celebs that have made any statements regarding the performances. Calls to the other performers haven’t been returned.

I didn’t believe all the rumors swirling around that Sean Penn and Scarlett Johansson were hooking up. But TMZ caught them having lunch together, and Scarlet’s leg is resting on Sean’s lap! I’d say this looks like more than just a friendship!!
Not only that, but People is reporting that the couple flew out of Van Nuys last night for an overnight Mexico trip.
The pair left on a private jet from Van Nuys airport Tuesday morning, then were spotted having dinner in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, that night, according to sources. Early Wednesday morning, they returned to Los Angeles where Johansson is shooting the film We Bought a Zoo with Matt Damon.
On the menu during their Mexican meal? Penn, 50 and Johansson, 26, reportedly enjoyed lobster and, of course, margaritas.
Earlier this week, the twosome were seen sharing a casual lunch at the popular Los Angeles Cuban restaurant, Versailles, where Johansson had her leg draped over Penn.
I’m a little bothered by this pairing… He’s TWICE her age!
What do you think?

In the new issue of Rolling Stone, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi opens up about her transformation from an upstate New York party girl/budding veterinary assistant into a reality TV superstar with a best-selling book, a $20,000 personal appearance fee, a line of jewelry and a spin-off TV show in the works. Highlights from the article include:
-On watching herself on Jersey Shore: “If I do something stupid, which is pretty much the whole time, I hate it. I just hate it. Obviously, they’re only going to put the good stuff in, and the good stuff is us drunk, so all I’m seeing is me drunk and falling down.”
-On plans for her future: “What I’d like is to turn out like Jessica Simpson, with her whole brand. She makes millions…I’m trying to build an empire, because after this I can’t get a normal job. I mean, how do I go and sit behind a desk?”
-On being filmed 24/7: “We can’t have cellphones, TV, radio or the Internet. If the president died, we’d have no idea. There’s no normalcy. It’s just like a prison, with cameras.”
-On smushing during the show: “The guys you see me bring home, we’re only cuddling and making out like any other person would do, but we’re on camera and the whole world’s seeing it, and it does look like I’m having sex.”
The new issue of Rolling Stone hits newsstands Friday. More on the cover story is available here!
